I ran through the hundreds of fighting wolves, twisting and turning through the maze. Left and right, wolf versus wolf, blood poured from their many wounds. Suddenly, I heard snarling. I jerked around with fear as a black wolf with his jaws wide leaped at me. "You're just a runt!" a deep male voice echoed as everything went dark.

Slowly, my dark vision became a familiar blurred image, but the only difference was I could hear whispers and see slightly more, even though it was still too blurry to make out what it was.

"Mommy!" I jerked up as I breathed heavily. I looked around me to see darkness, but then I saw a dark shape next to me and a small shadow looking at me.

I sighed in relief. "Katy, what is up with you?" I asked her as I started to calm my fast-paced breathing.

"You said we would go out today!" She yelled at me. She has finally started to really talk. She is over a year old now. It has been several months since Leo and I became mates.

I stood up and stretched. "Okay, let's go," I said quietly, trying to not wake Leo up. Katy ran out of the den, and I trotted after her smiling.

Katy glanced over her shoulder to look at me while her tail wagged excitedly behind her. Katy ran ahead laughing, and I joined in as I raced after her.

We ran through the Golden Forest, laughing as I chased after Katy. Katy leaped over a fallen tree with ease, even though she was still very small. I smirked before I bunched up my legs and leaped at the side of a tree. I pushed off of the tree and twirled around like a bullet and landed on the ground with grace. I burst right back into running as Katy howled happily. I joined my howl with hers as we continued to dash through the forest.

Suddenly, I froze as a scent drifted on the breeze. I ran faster to catch up to Katy. I snatched her up in my jaws as I twisted around as quickly as possible and ran.

Katy struggled in my grasp and tried to escape. "Mommy, put me down! What's going on?" Fear filled my eyes as I began to hear the thudding of foreign paws behind me.

I heard Katy gasp as she saw what was behind us. She screamed in fright as I continued to run towards the safety of the village. We were too far from the den, so it was our only shot. But then I had an idea.

I sped up, increasing the distance between us and the River Valleys. I bunched up my legs and leaped as I extended my claws to grab a hold of the trunk of an oak tree. I pulled myself and Katy up as I climbed the tree.

We reached the safety of a branch just as the River Valleys passed underneath us. But they didn't stop, not even a glance at us. They just kept on running...to the village.

My eyes widened even more in fear as I raised my head into the sky and howled, with all my might, a warning.  I continuously howled as Katy joined in.

"Come on," I said to Katy as I lowered my head. I grabbed Katy by the scruff of her neck again and leaped off of the branch.

I quickly took off through the forest towards the village. "Please have heard me," I murmured under my breath with a mouthful of Katy's fur.

Up ahead, I heard the barking, snarling, and yelps of fighting wolves. I broke the tree line and entered the village. All around wolves fought desperately, both Alphas and omegas, even though most omegas didn't even know how to fight.

I heard howling and looked up to see Alpha standing on the ledge outside of his den howling with Captain Mace and several other Alphas.

"Kate!" I turned to see Lucy and Molly running towards me. "Come on!" I raced after the girls, dodging back and forth between the fighting wolves. We stopped by a large rock wedged into the ground. "Put Katy in here. She'll be safe while we fight," Lucy said urgently.
