As I got into Will's truck, I couldn't help but breathe in the scent of him. He smelled of twilight woods for men and something else that I can just explain as being, him. I heard the click of his door shutting and I didn't even know he even opened the door in the first place. I blushed when he smirked at me with a look in his eyes that said he knows what I was thinking.
"Are you ready to go?"
"Yeah, I'll show you the way to my house."

We sat in a comfortable silence except for the occasional 'turn left' or 'turn right' so it wasn't that bad. "So what are your parents like?" I froze and grimaced at his unexpected question. He didn't notice my discomfort because his eyes were on the road.
"Uhhh... My mom and I are like best friends and supports everything I do. I think she would like you." Wait, did I just say that? I was blushing a bright red and he chuckled at me realizing my mistake. I barely know him and I'm already talking about him meeting my mom!
"What about your dad?"
"Umm... I don't really like talking about him." He looked over at me with a curious, but knowing sympathetic look. I hate that look. I'm not weak and I don't want peoples pity.
"Actually, I think you deserve to know."
"It's fine, you don't have to tell me."
"I want to though. He went missing and they presumed him dead, but they never found his body."
"I'm sorry about your dad. I probably shouldn't have asked." There's that look again. It's pissing me off! "Stop looking at me like that! I don't need your useless sympathy! I'm not some puppy beaten and forgotten!" I just snapped and I was fuming. "We're here." Apparently today I'm not as observant as I need to be. I kind of felt bad for blowing up in his face when he's supposed to be taking me on a date with him.
"Look, I'm sorry I just snapped at you like that. I shouldn't have done that. I'm just sick of everyone thinking I'm weak and that they have to 'understand' when they really don't." I sighed and noticed his face said it all. The look was one of care. He looked like he honestly cared about what I was saying. "It's okay Claire. You are a strong woman and I shouldn't have thought otherwise. I apologize for that. Forgive me?" He smiled a brilliant smile that could have blinded me. "How can I not forgive you when you smile at me like that?" I grinned and he chuckled, but I couldn't help to love that sound. It was rich and full of humor.
"Why don't you go ahead and go inside and change while I wait here?"
"Sure. I'll try to hurry."
I opened the door and jogged up to the house before he could answer. Mom isn't going to be home for a while so I wrote her a note saying I won't be back for a while and that it will probably be late by the time she got home. Hopefully she won't worry too much. I ran up to my room and frantically searched for something to wear before deciding on a black tank top with a white graphic tee that was big enough to hang off one shoulder, a pair of skin tight skinny jeans, and a pair of simple flip flops. I rushed out the front door, but making sure I locked it before walking out to get back in his truck. I feel confident that this will be one eventful date.
