Chapter Four (Will)

"What the hell Will? You know you can't be just picking up random girls and taking them to the movies!"

Sometimes Jacob acts like he's older and wiser than me, but right now he may be somewhat right.

Somewhat.

"Jacob I couldn't just walk away from my mate without asking her out." I gestured from me to out the window with the hand I wasn't steering with.

"Dude, I don't care who- Wait! Did you just say your mate?" He looked at me with wide, disbelieving eyes.

"Yeah bro she's my mate."

"You have got to be kidding me! You know your about to become the Alpha, right? We can't have you distracted with a mate!"

I shook my head at him, "I won't be distracted considering the war we are in with the Lochloosa Pack."

He eyed me closely and asked, "well did you at least smell to see if she is a wolf too?" Damn I should have checked. "No." He pointed at me and said, "see, you're already becoming careless!" I smirked at him and said, "did you at least check to see if she is?" Jacob looked away. "I'll take that as a no also. See I'm not the only one becoming a little careless." He snorted and mumbled, "Careless. Yeah right."

We were quiet the rest of the way home until we walked into the front door and were bombarded with questions from our mother. Questions like, "Are y'all ok? Did you run into any trouble? What took you so long?" She just kept firing off questions and patting us down to make sure herself that we were ok.

"Mom, we're fine! We just stopped at a muffin shop to get Jacob something to eat! That's why it took a little longer than necessary. We are grown wolves and we are perfectly capable of going out to see how grandma's doing!" She continued to look over us anyway.

"With this war going on, I wanted to make sure my babies where ok," she gave a half smile and it made me feel bad for saying the things I did.

"I'm sorry mom, it's just that I'm about to become to new Alpha and I don't need my mother still holding my hand while I'm doing it," she smiled and I smiled in return. I gave her a hug then walked to my room with Jacob trailing behind.

"So when are you going to tell mom about your mate?" Jacob seems to always ask the questions I have no idea how to answer. I sighed and said, "when I find out if she's a wolf or not."
