Fresh Pair of Eyes- Brooke Waggoner

Written in his POV

She was tired. Tired of this town, tired of her friends and tired of her family. She wanted me to go with her but I couldn't just ditch the band, the fans, this is my life now.

"Zayn come on" she whined while pulling on my sweater sleeve. "I just can't leave" I told her while looking into her eyes. They were a deep shade of teal, a little on the green side, a black rim made them darker than they are. She looked at me shocked, "Please" she whispered, "you're the only one that cares." Her eyes started to water. "Listen to me, I am NOT the only one who car.." she cut me off "YES!" she paused to take a deep breath and to wipe a tear, "yes, yes you are."

I should have went, I should have dropped everything and went. I had my mind made up and I was sticking to it. I was stupid to think she would have been fine without me.

She was running, running as hard as she can and as far away from me as she could. I tried to chase her for about five miles, my legs were burning and my feet we killing me. I tried calling her name. She didn't stop. Why isn't she stopping?

I left the car unlocked and started walking a path that lead to my destination. The smell of freshly cut crass and flowers filled the air. I heard the sound of faint crying and trees swaying in the wind.

She I kept running when she finally stopped. I ran faster so she wouldn't get the chance to run again. I grabbed her arm and turned her around. Her eyes looked dead and they were filled with tears. I wiped a tear that was treating to fall. "Please don't cry" I whisper. She grabbed my hand. "I have to go home" she said while rubbing her thumb over the back of my hand. "Why are you running from me" i asked. "I'm sorry but I have to go home" I didn't want to push it aside, but I did. "Okay, goodnight" i said before kissing her forehead, "I love you." she kissed my check before turning around and  saying "Goodbye."

How could I have been so stupid. I thought to myself. I walked over a hill to see her family and friends on their knees by her grave. There were flowers and stuffed bears all around her tombstone. A tear fell from my eye. I walked over and her mother told everyone that they should leave me alone with her. I sat down in front of her name and set a flower down, "I told you I wasn't the only one who cared." i whispered while looking back at all the heartbroken people.
