Chapter 1: Lost Friend

I always have this dream or really a nightmare.

It starts off with me as a child, walking home from school with my two friends, Rin and Sousuke walking beside. We're walking in this straight street, that never begins or ends. All of a sudden, this intersection comes out of nowhere. Rin goes to the left path, Sousuke goes to the right path and me, staying still in the middle path. They both turn to me, waving there hands with the streets disappearing. "I'm going to Australia tomorrow so this is farewell." Rin said. "I'm going to a different school, but it's far away from here. This is our last walk together." Sousuke said. Both boys disappear with the street, making the street become one whole endless street again, with me being all alone. I started to walk, but soon turned into running with tears coming down my face. "Rin, Sousuke, don't leave me!" I scream, trying to find another intersection, sadly I fail to find it. Anyway, if I find  one, what's side will I go to? Rin's or Sousuke's?

Now here's the strange or really creepy part. The street became 4 wall that move closer to me. The walls formed a box, with the top still open, and me in the middle. The walls keep moving closer and closer to me. I tried pushing them away, but I couldn't move them an inch. They finally stopped, nearly squishing me.

Just when I was finally safe, the walls began to crack with blood coming out of the cracks. Blood quickly rises, making me feel scared. I try to climb out, but suddenly something grabs my leg. It pulls me down to the ground, making sure I don't move. I look down to see what it is. I see four pairs of hands, holding me really tightly like they were about to brake my bones. The blood soon covers them and then half of my body. I feel the blood soaking into my cloths and meeting my skin.

I look up to find two people at the top of the wall. They are two boys sitting there and doing nothing. "Please help!" I scream, trying to reach out my hand. "It's good for you to stay down there." They both said, hopping off the wall and disappearing from my sight. Soon, I'm covered in blood and I begin to drown. I try to move, making the hands loosen there grip, but once again, they didn't move a inch.

I quickly felt that my breathing had stopped. My eyes closed and all I  saw was darkness. "Stay who you are, Mayu. Meow." I hear echo in my head-wait, why is there a meow? I open my eyes, seeing Kazuno's face, right in front of mine. "Meow." He said, meaning he wants my attention or he wants food. I get out of my bed and get this pain in my head. I must of have too many drinks last night. Reaching for my phone to see what the time it is, hopefully I get no notifications or missed calls. I find the time is 6:30am on Thursday and I don't have any stupid notifications, but ten missed calls from unknown number with no voice messages, but there is, one voice message from Makoto?

I'm not running late for work and I've done all the work I was given, so why did he call me? "You have 1 new voice message." "Morning Mayu, its Makoto. I had a great time last night at the restaurant. Maybe next time, you and I shouldn't have more than one glass of beer. Anyway, I called you for a reminder about the report from Mondays attack. Can you give it to me today? I'll meet you at the cafe with Nagisa. See you soon." -Beep- the message finished. Why do I drink so much with Makoto, but never with Nagisa or Rei?

I changed into my uniform, got my things and the report, of course gave Kazuno some food before he scratches my bed, I leave the house and head to the cafe. I decided to catch the train there because if I take the car it will be hell to park and Makoto can drive me to work. Heading to the train, I take a seat and see a passenger reading a newspaper, saying 'another vitamin has died from a violent attack.' But little no they know it's really just another hungry ghoul, wanting something to eat. This is why I joined the police force so I can help people from the ghouls and maybe make peace with them. Sadly, it's a fail because ghouls need humans, we can't let them eat everyone whenever they feel hungry.

The train had stopped at the station near the cafe. I get off the train, I head to the cafe and to have some breakfast with a coffee. Once I'm near the cafe, I see Gou, my friend from school, bring the sign out. But this time it's someone else. I see a tall, brown hair man in the male cafe uniform. He must be a new. I wonder, what's his name is? "Good morning, sir." I said, standing next to him. The man notices my presence. "Oh, good-." He paused when he saw my face. He looked at me with surprise. I'm curious why he giving me that look? Did I do something wrong? "Are you Mayu Nariko?" He asked. I nodded back, but how does he know my name? "It me, Mayu!" He said, standing up and grabbing my hand. I looked at me, more confused, like who is this guy? "It's Sousuke Yamazaki, we went to school together until I move?" He said, but never meet-WAIT SOUSUKE! Just then, I remember my dream, seeing him leave me.

"I'm so sorry for not recognising you early. You-you look older than I remember." I said with a shocked face. "Purity did hit me well with me getting taller, a deep voice than that childish voice and I look more sexy than cute. Purity hit you as well with you getting tall but still not taller than me, you look older but still cute and you have a bigger-bigger.-" He was struggling to say something, but where his eyes were, I kinda see why he struggling  "Your saying I have bigger boobs or I finally got some?" I asked him in a angry tone. He nodded back with his eyes still staring at them. He is like a child or teen really with their eyes stuck on a screen, or really everyone now. "It seems when growing up, you became a pervert!" I said with him finally looking up and seeing my 'I'm going to kill you' face. He took a step back with fear on his face. "Please forgive. It's just I haven't seen you for a long time and I'm just so amazed how, how you change from a child to an adult." He said with a smile and patting my head, like what we did when we were young.

"Anyway Sousuke, I need to get into the cafe, before my work starts." I said, heading into the cafe. "I guess your right. I do have a job here, meaning l can't be chatting you all the time, but I do want to chat to you more." He said in a sad tone, coming up the stairs. "Then let's go out tonight. After work of course" I suggested. "I have nothing planned for tonight so I'm totally free. How about we meet here again at 9:00 or 9:30?" He asked. "I get out early today, so I should get here at 9:30, but might be a bit late due to the trains." I said with Sousuke opening the cafe door. "You will be late if you don't give me that report today." Suddenly, we both hear a voice behind us. We turn, finding Makoto and Nagisa right behind us with Makoto giving his 'give me your work' look and Nagisa giving his always sweet happy look.

"Do you know these guys, Mayu?" Sousuke asked, looking curious at me. "These two are my friends from high school, well really now work mates. The man in the suit is Makoto Tachibana, and the one wearing hipster cloths is Nagisa Hazuki. Guys, this is Sousuke Yamazaki. He and I were friends at primary school." I said. "Nice to meet, Sousuke." Makoto said, shaking his hand. "Pleasure to meet you!" Nagisa said with giving Sousuke a high hand, not on his hand, his face instead. Sousuke grabbed Nagisa arm and look menacing at him like he was about to hurt him or even worse . "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry." Nagisa repeated with his body trembling of fear. Makoto and I were both getting worried, so we were about to jump on, if he hurtled Nagisa.

"All is forgiven, just don't do it again, Ok?" Sousuke said with turning back to happy. Makoto, Nagisa and I signed of relief. "Forgive me for scary you all." Sousuke said, patting each of our heads. "It's fine, just maybe don't do it again. Anyway, we should head into the cafe." Makoto said, walking into the cafe with me and Sousuke getting out of his way and Nagisa walking behind him. "Let's go and do our jobs, before we get in trouble." I said, heading into the cafe. "Yeah." Sousuke said, following me into the cafe.

What an interesting morning l've had so far, I wonder what else will happen today? Hopefully more surprise like get a pay rise, getting a huge break or meeting Rin....

Who I'm I kidding, I know that won't happen, because Rin has been dead for more than 10 years.
