Dracos POV

Flitwick finally managed to struggle his way down to the door way at the end of the hall with the three legged-stool and sorting hat. I never thought I would have to sit through the interminable sorting again. The pathetic eleven year olds, their faces so bright and cheery, it pains me to think I was that way once, my whole future ahead of me, a world of opportunities open to me. I hated them but at the same time, envyed them. I couldn't change what had happened in the past and the future wasn't looking too promising right about now. I barely escaped Azkaban and Mother and Father only got by by the skin of their teeth. As much as I had complained about it, I was quite glad to be back at Hogwarts. It made it easier to pretend nothing had changed.

The hag stood up from her place in the Headmaster's chair. It was strange not to see the old man's white beard gleaming under the lanterns that floated a few feet above. McGonagall cleared her throat and tapped her wand on the stand in front of her, gathering the attention of the hall.

"Welcome to another year at Hogwarts. Even though everything is similar, but I know for most of you, much has changed. For many more, this is the location of many loses. Many of you have witnessed the passing of collegues. Of family. Of friends. I know that it is strange to be back here but your education is the most important thing for you just now. Everyone sitting in the room has a bright future ahead of them and Hogwarts shall stand united, no matter about house, age, beliefs or blood status." Her eye's flicked quickly to me. A second and they were gone but that was enough to alert people of my presence.

Her speech was followed by a few moments of silence. I stared at the table as whispers erupted around me.

"... Wasn't he a Death Eater?"

"Draco Malfoy? He has a nerve..."

"How is he allowed in here?"

I gritted my teeth to stop myself grabbing my wand.

Millie's POV

As much as I hated Malfoy, I felt really sorry for him. Everyone was whispering behind his back and pointing. Did he really deserve this?

That didn't stop him being a Narcissist arsehole though.

Draco's POV

"I think I have said enough. Now let us eat!"

I was glad she had stopped speaking but just looking at that food made me feel sick. The smell of the roast beef, shepherd's pies and mounds of yorkshire puddings was enough to turn my stomach.

I watched as Goyle stuffed his face. How could he eat at a time like this? Merlin he was disgusting. My nose turned up in disgust and I turned to stare at the other end of the table.

Pansy stared at me from the other side of the table, a smug expression on her face. She leaned into Nott and stuffed a strawberry into her piggish mouth. How had I ever kissed that? I really wanted to vomit.
