I Don't Even Know Why

Chapter 13: Elizabeth's P.O.V.

It's been a week since mom and Athena visited us, a week since my classes started, and a week since I last saw James. I hate to admit it, but I actually kind of miss the guy. I haven't seen him since all my classes are in the morning and during afternoon I'd just go back in my cabin and proceed with my sleeping session, and I really haven't seen him around actually, during breakfast, lunch, or even dinner at the dinning pavilion.

For some reason, it's making me really worried, a week of not talking to the idiot is nerve-wracking, I thought I'd feel relieved that nobody's gonna annoy me all day, but in truth I actually miss it, and even by just saying that is scaring the shit out of me.

Then I started thinking, which is a shocker, why I haven't seen James all week. It's either he's too much busy hanging out with Concon or what I saw last week which was the grey strand was actually real, I just hope it's the former.

I sighed, closing the book that I was reading, I've been thinking too much about him, the thing that I should be worried now is the fact that I actually woke up early and got myself ready. Curse my siblings for actually waking me up early the past week, now I'm getting used on waking up early.

And that's not good, like at all.

" It's already seven, and yet Jammy is not here yet, again. " I heard Kim sigh, I just looked at her questioningly, I mean was she waiting for him or something? And Jammy?

" Yeah, it's been a week and he hasn't visited us or even our little sister yet. " mumbled Oscar looking at me

" Have you talked with him since last week Rose? " Piper asked and I just shook my head then I heard all of them sigh,

" Oh come on guys, maybe James is just busy hanging out with Concon. " I said smiling at them and they all just rolled their eyes then groaned.

" Look, Elizabeth. We prefer him hanging out with you than anybody else. " I heard Lacy said using my real name

" Lacy, guys, as I said before, James is gay, I'm straight, we're just friends, nothing more nothing less. You all just got used on him coming here every morning waking you all up, missing him in the process since he hasn't visited yet. " I said shrugging and they all just groaned then started mumbling some things.

" Look, Rose, I swear to the Gods above, the two- "

Piper wasn't able to finish what she said since we heard a knock on the door and she replied saying come in, the door opened and came in Malcolm. She greeted us good morning then quickly scanned the room as if looking for something, or someone.

When his eyes landed on me, he quickly smiled in relief then ran towards me.

" El, you need to go to our cabin quickly and talk some sense into James. " he quickly said, at the mention of James' name I tensed up then quickly asked Malcolm

" Why, what happened to him Mal? "

Malcolm looked worried, he bit his lip then said

" He's been sulking since last week, he just stays there in his bunk, not even talking to us or eat. We all are very worried about him El, we tried talking to him and pulling him literally, out of his bunk but he just won't budge! El, you need to help him, if you won't I swear he'd be like a living corpse and that's not good. " Malcolm started panicking and I quickly tried making him relax, I then quickly took my flip flops then stood up

" I'll be out for a while guys, be back later. " I said then started running out of the cabin with Malcolm right behind me.

When I reached the Athena cabin I quickly yanked the door open making some Athenians look at me, but when they realized that it was me they just smiled, relief in their faces.

" He's in his bunk. And please help him. " said Cindy, I just smiled then said

" I'll do my best. " I speed walked towards James' bunk eyeing the slump on his bed not moving a bit.

Thinking about things I shouldn't even be thinking I ran towards his bunk, but when I saw his chest rising and falling, I sighed, relief he's not dead. I sure am a hypocrite.

I slowly sat beside James, then called his name softly, but he won't budge he just covered himself even more with his blanket. Annoyed by his action I stood up, took a glass then filled it with cold tap water.

Then I poured it on him.

In a matter of seconds James started yelling.

" The fuck did you do that for!!?? " he yelled fuming at me

" Well I thought you were starting to rot, so I thought a little clean up might help. " I said using the words he used once at me, when I looked at James more clearly, his once beautiful and intimidating grey eyes were now dull and lifeless, there were dark circles under his eyes, tear stains on his face, and he was too pale.

" Rose, please leave me alone, I'm not in the mood right now. " he said pleadingly, but I just shook my head. I took his hand then pulled him up

" James, come on you need to get out from your bunk. " I said still pulling him, I guess he got really annoyed by me because of what he did after.

He pushed me really hard causing me to fall on the floor, then he yelled.

" Can you just stop being annoying!!!?? And all of you will you just stop forcing me and stopping me on what I want to do!!?? You have no idea how I'm feeling right now so stop it and leave me alone!!! And Elizabeth stop being a pest will you? This is your fault to begin with anyway. " he glared at me, and all of us were shocked by his sudden outburst, I had to bit my lip hard to stop myself from crying.

Yes, crying, to be honest, I'm really a crybaby, but nobody has to know that. I didn't care that he pushed me, but his words, it hurts more than a million swords stabbing me.

Upon realizing what he said and did, James' eyes widened and he started stuttering

" R-Ro, I-I, I didn't, I didn'- " but I didn't let him finish, breathing slowly I quickly stood up then clasped James' shoulders.

" James, just relax, okay? You're not thinking properly, so why not you go to the bathroom take a shower, just relax, change your clothes, and I'll just wait here for you. We'll get breakfast together and talk later, okay? " I smiled at him, he just bit his lower lip then nodded. I gave him his clothes pushed him towards the bathroom then quickly went back to his bed.

Hurts. It hurts.

I took his sheets and noticed that it wasn't only wet but it was starting to get stinky so I quickly took it then went to his siblings.

Hurts. It hurts so much.

" Do you guys mind getting this? It's starting to stink and it's wet. And can someone please get me new sheets? I'll replace James' sheets now. " I said but before they even move Malcolm stood in front of me.

Why does it hurt?

" El, you're crying. " he said looking at me worriedly, I touched my cheeks and I felt wet tears falling down from my eyes. Someone took the sheets from me and Leah quickly hugged me, I nuzzled my head on the crook of her neck then I started crying even more, she just rubbed my back and whispered sweet nothings into my ears, I just continued there crying but not loud enough to let James hear it.

It hurts too much, and I don't even know why.
