After paying Maddie the ten dollars I owed her we went to one final shop. I couldn't stop thinking about what I was going to wear to the date tomorrow night. I thought through every dress I had brought with me along with the shoes I brought. As we entered the shop I remembered the dress that I had bought at home before we came, it was a strapless blue lace dress with a sweetheart neckline. Thinking about the shoes and jewelry next was the hardest, I had brought a pair of nude cutout heels that looked like a real life Cinderella shoe. As I walked into the store further I started searching the jewelry racks for a statement necklace when the excitement and nerves hit me.
'What will happen if this date turns into something more?'
My facial expression must have changed because both my mom and Maddie stopped shopping and asked me what was wrong.
"What if this whole thing doesn't work out? We're from the opposite sides of the world!" I started to fidget when my mom grabs my hands looking me in the eye.
"Lily if this works out you're going to get over the time differences and not being near each other. I mean this is the age of technology you have skype, texting, and calling. Most importantly remember, love conquers all." In the end, mom pulled me into a tight hug and pulled Maddie into it also.
"You remember that too Maddie," she stated.
Our little heart to heart made me feel so much better towards this whole situation. We went back to searching for the perfect first date dress for Maddie and the necklace to finish my look. After searching through all the racks I was ready to give up. That was until I came across the most perfect necklace. It had pearls that were in the shape of a pyramid that hung just right to show off the dress's neckline. After finding the necklace we continued the look for Maddie's dress. Maddie's dress was harder to find because she is picky and also a little less girly than myself. As I took a second to breathe and clear my head I saw a blue dress that would look amazing on my best friend and it would also take Louis breath away. It was a short blue dress with thicker straps and studs on the waistline and the hem.
As I ran over to the dress I remembered a necklace and ring set that would be adorable with the dress. I grabbed the dress and headed back to the rack that had the jewelry on it to get the items I wanted. I smiled to myself as I had them up together and see how well it went together, turning my attention back to Maddie I quickly walked over to her and handed her the dress and accessories pushing her over to the dressing rooms. A minute later Maddie emerged from the dressing room with a huge smile on her face and the dress on her body, it looked amazing on her if I do say so myself. The dress fit Maddie as if it was made just for her. I could tell that she was loving the dress also from the smile that stretched from ear to ear.
"That dress looks stunning on you!" I complimented her coming up from behind. She couldn't pull her eyes away from her reflection. Giving her a nod she went back to change out of the dress. Emerging out of the fitting room in her normal clothes we headed for the shoe department. Looking at all of the amazing shoes I spotted a pair of small black heels that would look great on Maddie thanks to her amazingly toned legs from playing soccer. I picked them up and gave them to her to try on. Once the shoes were on Maddie stood up and walked around making sure the heels wouldn't kill her fun on the date.
"These are perfect!" she cheered while bouncing on the balls of her feet.
"Yay!" I said while clapping my hands, "Let's go check out so we can go." I said with a wave of my hand. I waited while she tugged the shoes off and put hers back on. We walked with shoes, jewelry, and the dress in hand to the cashier to get checked out. Once everything was purchased Maddie and I decided to go get our nails done while my mom went out and shopped more.
Walking into the nail salon Maddie and I was seated at tables next to each other right away. We started talking about everything and anything, from the excitement of the day to our dates tomorrow night. I chose to do a classic white on my nails and Maddie got simple French tips to match her dress. The lady doing our nails noticed our American accents.
"Where are you two from?" she politely asked in her accent.
"America," we said at the same time causing us to laugh.
"What brought you all the way to London?" the lady doing Maddie's nails asked.
"Oh my friends' family got her a trip here for her birthday and she chose me to come with," Maddie explained with a smile.
"So is that the occasion for the nails?" She asked with curious eyes.
"No, we actually have dates tomorrow," I said with a smile that stretched from ear to ear.
"Oh, that's so sweet." They both said with awes. Once that conversation ended it was quiet except for the TVs on and the chatter from others in the nail salon. I decided to explain a little further into everything that had happened in the last couple weeks. As I talked another lady that had just gotten her nails done came over and joined in conversation with us.
"I couldn't help but overhear that you girls were going on dates tomorrow. I hope you have so much fun! Also happy belated birthday dear." The older lady told Maddie and myself.
"Thank you so much!" Maddie and I said at the same time. Once our nails were completed and fully dried we went to pay for our nails but the nail ladies wouldn't take the money.
"Your nails have been paid for by another client." The lady said politely with a smile. That nice older lady must have paid for our nails as a pay it forward like thing. Maddie and I went on our way to meet my mom in the food court to head back to the hotel so we could rest before our big dates tomorrow night.
When we got back to the hotel we laid in our beds and watched tv. It was strange watching European tv. We laid there until Maddie's stomach caught my attention. I simply had to look at my mom and she knew. Picking up the phone she ordered a pizza and some ice cream to finish off our day. As we flipped through channels my eyes started getting heavy. I tried to fight to stay awake but my body fell into a deep sleep dreaming about my date tomorrow night. Guess I'll never know if the pizza and ice cream were good or not.
