The wind whips through my fur, urging me to go faster. I must've outrun my guards because in a matter of moments the sound of their paw steps behind me fades away. I stop by a small pond and begin to rehydrate myself. I relish the feeling of the cool, refreshing water as it runs down my throat and settles in my stomach.
I look up and inhale deeply. I'll never get tired of this, I think with a profound sense of peace. But a familiar voice snaps me out of my daydream.
"Well princess. Fancy finding you out here." I turn around to see a huge black wolf with blistering green eyes just sitting there, staring at me dreamily from the other side of the pond. I stiffen when Ian stands up and begins to walk towards me. I start to slowly back away, hoping he won't notice. He does.
"Where do you think you're going, princess? There's no one out here. No one but us," Ian says maliciously through the mind-link. He stresses the 's' at the end and it sends a sliver of fear through my heart.
"Ian, stop. This isn't you talking. It's my heat scent that's getting to you," I try to reason with him. I had just started going into heat 2 days ago and every male in the Blood Rose Pack sensed it. I was being harassed by males at every turn. As if the females didn't hate me enough, but now I've been followed by a cloud of men wherever I go. Only Ian's constant presence is what keeps the other males at bay. He hates sharing his toys. For once, I'm grateful for his constant supervision. But now, this time, I know he's not joking around.
"Please, princess. If anything this is my true self talking. And he's been dying to get you under him," Ian growls. A deep rumble snakes its way through his chest and I can hear it across the distance between us.
"My name's not Princess. It's Marina!" I yell through the link. He chuckles.
"Well, Marina, I'll have you howling."
I turn tail and run. My lungs are burning from not getting the chance to rest at the stream, but I can't stop. I am tired, but my back legs keep pressing on, numbly moving on their own. The adrenaline coursing it's way through my veins and the fear running through my mind presses me on and on. I can hear Ian's panting behind me. He's gaining on me, I think with impending doom.
Just a little farther to the pack house, and Raven will stop hi-
I'm tackled to the ground by Ian and we roll until I'm underneath him. His once blistering green eyes have now turned into a depthless black, searing into my very soul. I struggle, kicking, biting, and yelping, doing anything to get this sex-crazed Alpha off of me.
"Oh Marina. You're gonna stay with me forever," Ian states, looking at me dreamily. "You'll be my Luna, and I your Alpha. We'll breed a whole new generation for our pack," he growls.
"Your pack. This will never be my pack!" I scream. And that earns me a swipe from my attacker. Blood trickles down the side of my face and onto the ground from the scratch on my cheek.
He leans down to my ear and ever so softly yet menacingly whispers through the link, "You might never even leave the bed."
I howl. I yell and I scream. Someone! Anyone! Help me! I beg silently.
"Get the hell off of her, Alpha!" Ian is kicked off of me by a leather shoe. He flies a couple feet away and lands on the ground with a yelp. I look up at my rescuer, and immediately feel a wave of relief wash over me.
Forrest Blanchard, the Gamma of the Blood Rose Pack, has come to my aid.
He's in human form, but he's older and more experienced than Ian. Think of Draco Malfoy facing off against Dumbledore. I think you can tell which is which. Forrest steps in between us and watches with disdain and disgust as Ian struggles to stand. With a shake of his pelt, Ian growls and stamps his paw.
"What are you doing, Forrest?!" Ian demands through the mind-link. Authority is rolling off of him in waves. But Forrest isn't fazed by it at all. I think he's used to Ian behaving like a child.
Rolling his eyes, our Gamma says aloud, "I'm protecting my Luna. Seeing as how her guards were inefficient."
Ian laughs maliciously. "'Protecting?' She does not need protection from me!" He yells.
Forrest scoffs and turns to me. He beckons me forward. I do so, and he places his hand in front of my face. "If you will permit me, Luna," he asks quietly. I don't know what he's gonna do, but I allow him. I trust Forrest with my life. Can't say that about any of the other members of this damn pack.
Forrest gently grabs me by the chin and tilts my head to where the scratch on my cheek is facing Ian. Now, authority is rolling off of Forrest in waves. "A Luna needs protection from her Alpha if he does this." He points to the bleeding slice with his free hand. It'd already started to heal, but the scratch still stung my face as if he'd just dealt the blow.
"My father will hear of this," Ian threatens through the link.
But Forrest had already started to walk me in the direction of the pack house. He scoffs and throws his arms up in surrender. Without looking back, he calls, "Calm down there, Malfoy. And I'll be sure to tell your Daddy about this myself."
I can't help but chuckle to myself. Even though Forrest is only the Gamma, he's still older than Ian, and all wolves older than you are to be respected. And Forrest definitely earns it. No one has the guts Forrest has. No one stands up to Ian like he does, either.
Once at the pack house, Lucy and Meredith run up to me, fully clothed. They look as if they were really concerned about me, but I'm too mad to let them off the hook just yet. I run behind a tree and shift back into my human form, and Meredith hands me my clothes.
"Kiss-ass," I hear Lucy mutter to her.
