Logan steps up to the microphone and taps on it.

"I'm sorry to say that our Alpha, Alpha Garrett Foxx, will not be joining us for the coronation speech, but will be here to attend the rest of the coronation. He sends his deepest apologies," Logan informs everyone of the news.

I let go of a breath I hadn't known I'd been holding. This meant I had a couple more minutes not worrying about whether the Alpha was going to kill me on sight. To my left, I hear Harvey mutter to me, "My typical brother. Too busy with Alpha duties."

I chuckle. Martin is still behind me with his hands on my shoulders and he puts his head on my right shoulder. I turn my head slightly when I hear him whisper, "But he's always fashionably late when he is."

Logan keeps talking.

"Before we start, I would like to thank all of you for attending the coronation of our newest Omega: Emory Wilcox," Logan announces and gestures behind him to one of the men behind him. The youngest looking one comes forwards and bows as everyone cheers and claps. Harvey puts two fingers to his mouth and whistles so loudly I flinch. Martin's clapping like a maniac behind me.

Emory is young, I can tell you that. He's got brown hair that's obviously been gelled back. He's not wearing a tux, but he's wearing a nice maroon dress shirt with a nice pair of khakis. He's also wearing Sperrys. The typical fuck-boy get up.

"Now at the age of 15, Emory is eligible to become an Omega. And that is what he shall become. Tonight," Logan's voice booms into the microphone.

The second man comes up to Logan and stands next to him. "That's Sonny Fitzgerald, our Gamma," Martin whispers in my ear.

Sonny looks serious, never once letting a smile loose. His golden blonde hair is put into a style like a Kennedy Hair Flip. And the tuxedo he should be wearing is replaced instead with a leather jacket and a dress shirt with a pair of dress pants and shoes. He looks like one of the characters in the movie The Outsiders, but his voice betrays his bad-boy look. "Since Emory only needs two high-ranking wolves in order to initiate him into the ranks of an Omega, and since Alpha Foxx isn't here to initiate Emory himself, Logan and I will carry out the honors," he tells us all. His voice is smooth and light, nothing like how I'd expected it to be.

Logan and Sonny turn to Emory, who kneels down onto one knee. Logan approaches him first. He places both of his hands on the teenager's shoulders. "I, Logan Joplan, Beta of the Black Spades Pack, hereby initiate Emory Wilcox into the pack as a full fledged Omega," Logan recites. He then smiles down at Emory, and steps away. Cheers and applauses erupt from all around the room, and I join in. Martin and Harvey look at me, impressed. Then they both exchange glances, shrug and then join me in cheering on Emory.

Sonny then steps forward. He places both of his hands on Emory's shoulders. "I, Sonny Fitzgerald, Gamma of the Black Spades Pack, hereby initiate Emory Wilcox into the pack as a full fledged Omega," Sonny recites this and smiles down at Emory before walking a couple feet away to stand beside Logan. The crowd gets louder than before as Emory stands up and walks over to the microphone.

"Speech! Speech! Speech!" The crowd chants. I chant along with them, and Martin and Harvey follow suit.

"I don't know how to express my gratitude. Not just to you all who came to my coronation," Emory says, gesturing out to the crowd. "Not just to Logan and Sonny for initiating me," he continues, gesturing this time to the Beta and Gamma, both beaming with pride. It's the first time I've seen Sonny smile, and it's perfect. "But also, to the Moon Goddess!" Emory yells, pointing up to the roof, and therefore, the moon. "Cause I know that She will find me a mate who's just fine with this sloppy Omega being her mate." Emory finishes, and has us all laughing as we cheer and clap. He then bows and walks off the stage. Logan and Sonny are both clapping, and then Sonny follows Emory off the stage. Meanwhile Logan steps up to the microphone. "Thank you, everyone, for attending this coronation. Please enjoy the rest of the night," he says this before he walks off the stage.

I turn to Harvey and Martin as they do me. We all turn as Emory is surrounded by a swarm of people congratulating him and patting him on the back. Martin calls him over. Emory sees him, and comes over. I tense up, not knowing how the new Omega's gonna take to me being a Rogue.

"Hey Martin. Thanks for that, dude. They were hounding my ass everywhere I went," Emory thanks Martin gratefully. His gaze immediately snaps to me, and his eyes widen. The Omega inhales and exhales deeply. "So, what might your name be?" He asks me, his voice deeper and huskier.

I swallow hard. "I'm Marina Osment. I'm a Rogue," I tell him. Emory takes a step back when I tell him about me being a Rogue, but Harvey puts a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

"Don't worry, Emory. She's cool," he tells the Omega.

"She came here looking for her mate," Martin adds, which really isn't false.

"Really, he must not be here. Because we would've noticed each other by now," I inform the boys, looking around. Aruba whines quietly, and it breaks my heart. I know how much she was looking forward to finding our mate tonight.

Martin claps his hands together. "I don't know about you ladies, but I want a drink," he announces. "Anybody want anything?" He asks.

I shake my head. "Champagne, if they have it," I say. He nods then turns to the other two boys. But Harvey and Emory are already heading towards the bar, gesturing for Martin to follow them. He sighs, turns to me, shrugs while giving me a look of defeat, and jogs after his brother and the new Omega.

And I'm left standing here all alone. Until the males see that I'm finally alone and they start to form a circle around me. They're all barraging me with different questions, all at the same time. I desperately look for Martin, Harvey or Logan. Or even Emory, cause right now, I need all the help I can get before these males get too excited.

"Alpha Foxx has arrived!" A voice booms from the top of the staircase. We all look, especially me because this is the man I've been dreading all evening. But once I lay eyes on him, I don't feel any fear. I feel...calm. One word circulates through my mind:

Mate.
