I don't remember much of my childhood, if I even had one, all I've ever really known was the Lab, and my cage. Sometimes though I see the blurry outline of a woman's face surrounded by raven-black hair, same as mine; I think she may have been my mother. They did all sorts of testing in the Lab, but I was one of their best subjects, all the others were killed off by their cruel experiments, while the others died of malnutrition, dehydration, or disease. They were the lucky ones; there have always been new ones coming and going, though not many lasted through more than 2 or 3 experiments. I was one of the 'promising' ones. Other than me, there used to be a boy about 14-ish, who lasted through 8 experiments(or so I've heard), the most promising until I came, I don't know what they did to him, but he'd tried to escape the Lab multiple times, and tried to break out as many of us as he could in the process.

They caught him as he was trying to open the cage next to mine, he attacked both guards that came to see what the commotion was, the ones already out of their cages bolted from the room as fast as they could, although malnutrition and illness had made many weak, none looked back or tried to help the others escape. I don't know if any of them escaped, but none ever came back; the guards quickly overpowered the boy, and knocked him out. Those of us who were left cowered in the corners of our little cages, and the guards made sure that we were all still secure, and there would be no chance that we could escape.

That night, screams echoed throughout the Lab and the cage room, worse than they normally would be. I have no doubt that the scientists' experiment killed him that night. I didn't know much at the time, but I did know that one day I'd have to escape that horrid place. I waited for what I'd assume was years, going through experiment after experiment, and then the examinations to see if what they'd done had been successful (which most were).

I finally got my chance after they'd done something having to do with my back, I'm not quite sure what, but my back hurt for weeks after, and they'd check and change the bandages daily. It was during one of my daily check ups around the third week that I got my first taste of freedom. The doctor had left his key-pen in my sight, as he'd turned away, and I took it, hiding it in my socks under my pants leg. The fool didn't even know that I'd taken it from him, he just kept doing his thing as he cleaned my back, and re-bandaged me. I was giddy with anticipation and excitement knowing that soon, I'd get my chance to escape. As I was lead back to my dumpy little cage, I tried to keep my expression the same as I have every day, I knew that one little mistake would cost me not only my chance at freedom, but possibly even my life.

I waited for another few weeks, new experiments with different effects, one even giving me a tail, a fluffy black fox tail (which matched my hair), and as if that weren't weird enough I even got the ears to match! They had me practice my balance and hearing after the tail and ears appeared, and every day, I used that to my advantage, using the examinations as exercises for the abilities they gave me.

One of my favorite abilities was the telekinesis, which they thought that I could only lift small objects with- but in reality I could do so much more- even though I've only just started, I can crush some of the small insects in my little cage, and I've begun to experiment with what else I can do with it, the easiest being to lift and maneuver things with my mind.

After the experiment that gave me telekinesis, during the examination, the scientists looked so happy- and I was just really confused- because one moment everything was on the tables and stuff, and the next everything was just floating a few inches or feet (depending on the object) above whatever it was on before, including me and the nurse-lady in the room with me. She screamed and I sat there in shock, as 4 different scientists burst through the door to the room. "What's going on?" they shout, as they saw us and all the objects floating. They stood there dumbfounded before one called for the main doctor to come in, and I couldn't really hear the rest.

A few seconds later, everything just dropped to the floor, and what happened after that is kind of a blur to me, I do remember the head doc coming in and asking me all sorts of questions about what happened and what I did.

After that they had me in to test what had happened more often than usual. One day during the testing period a meeting was called last minute, so I was all alone in the room. Knowing this would probably be my only chance, I took out the key pen, unlocked the door, and sprinted as quietly as I could down the hallways searching for the exit.

After a while I did find it, although there were a few guards milling around it, boredly. I had been working on my telekinesis and even though they usually had me on a pill that blocks my ability, it had been neutralized so that they could test the limits of it, and the nurse had forgot about it when she had to quickly leave for the meeting.

I found a few small rocks along the edge of the door and I concentrated. The stones moved at my command, and flew down the other hall, making a loud sound as they did. The guards sprang to action all but one leaving the door. I had to take care of him quickly and silently. I used my telekinesis to float near the ceiling making sure that I didn't leave a shadow under me, and as soon as I was above him, I kicked him in the base of his skull, knocking him out.

I pushed the doors open and bolted, as I heard a siren going off in the building behind me. My bare feet pounding against the ground and the beating of my heart in my ears was the only thing I could hear for the longest time, as I ran towards the cover of the trees, and soon, I heard the distant sound of people shouting. I pushed myself to go faster, but it's kind of hard to do when you've only ever known a small cell, the occasional exercise, and the horrible malnourishment, oh, and don't forget the experiments they put me through.

The bandages covering my chest and back shifted uncomfortably as I ran, rubbing against the sore spots on my back as I dodged brush and branches.

I ran for what felt like forever only stopping for short periods of time when I saw small streams or gatherings of water. Soon, however my grueling pace and the fact that I haven't eaten in at least a few days caused me to pass out from exhaustion.

Alright so I have some of these chapters pre-written, it's just a matter of me publishing them, which I have yet to decide a day on, maybe when I have at least 6 views per chapter, unless anyone reading this really wants the next chapter up? I dunno. This will also here pretty short chapters, nothing really longer than 1500 words.
