" Watch your heads" Louis warns as we pass under a low tree branch.
We're going up to see the tiger's current enclosure. Team LL have been explaining how the enclosure we're going to help put together is a part of a national breeding program to ultimately raise their numbers to release them back into the wild.
Louis stands by the low branch reminding everyone to duck. Amanda and I are at the back of the single file line through this narrow part of the path.
"So you're the journalism student aye" I look up to see Louis is referring to.
"Camera a dead give away isn't it" I continue adjusting the lens.
"I'll be expecting good publicity".
"As long as there's anything good to publicize because all I feel is burning calf muscles" Amanda's voice chimes in as we reach the top of the hill that the path had led us up.
We take a moment to catch our breath and realize the rest of the group is muttering "wow" and other phrases of complete awe.
"Shit" Amanda says under her breath but Louis still catches it.
"So spoke to soon aye Amanda" He tilts his head with a cocky smirk and Amanda tries to suppress her defeat.
Our view from the top of the hill is a shallow valley between the surrounding mountains. Some of the group is expressing words of awe but I'm lost for words and just take it all in. The valley is lush wish both light and deep shades of green flora. Some trees taller than the others create a canopied area with shade. If the next few weeks are as hot as I've predicted that shade will be my safe haven. The far East corner is occupied by what looks like an enclosure and to the North and center is a large clearing. My thoughts are interrupted by Louis voice "Let's get down there then shall we".
Louis has gathered us all into a huddle by a large cage so that we can here him speak. "This is the current home of three tigers, as you can see it is far to small. It used to be slightly bigger but part of it has recently been demolished to allow the new enclosure to have more space. We'll revisit this area at feeding time."
He pauses momentarily scanning across the group before continuing "Unless our big cats decide Rob's àss is a worthy meal. Bringing me one of the key rules, don't get your self in to dangerous situations such as leaning against the enclosure" he warned sternly.
He receives his desired outcome as Rob lifts his leaning body form the fence and stands straight. Louis sends Rob an acknowledging nod and with that Louis swiftly turns his back to the group and continues the introduction of the site.
As we approach the area of canopied trees a masculine feature emerges from the small building at the base of one of the older trees. The light seeps through the outer boarders of the shaded area allowing features of his appearance to become visible.
The unfamiliar face speaks "Well, well, well look what we have here".
