Amanda's POV
We go into the closest supermarket and buy eggs, milk, flour and all the other stuff we need to make pancakes. "Can't we just get the pancake mix?" I groan. "Nope, it doesn't taste as good. Plus, I'm Italian, I take my food seriously." Austin says, winking and taking the sugar off the shelf. No wonder he is so hot; He is Italian. Is it just me or do 90% of Italians look like supermodels? Yes, Austin and I may be just friends when we are alone but that doesn't stop the fact that he is EXTREMELY good looking.
"We're skipping school tomorrow; it's already 3:26am. No way am I waking up in 3 hours to get ready for school." Austin says shaking his head. I nod in agreement. We put all the ingredients on the little moving conveyer and the old lady looks at us and smiles. I wonder what she was thinking; seeing two teenagers buying milk, eggs, sugar and other stuff at three in the morning? Seems a bit odd. "You guys are a really cute couple. I ship it." The old lady says, chuckling. Austin and I look at each other, suppressing a laugh. "Thanks." We say in sync and leave, taking our pancake ingredients with us.
When we get out the store we burst out laughing, "She ships us. I want that lady to be my grandma. My real grandma doesn't even know what a real ship is, let alone the couple ship." I say, shaking my head and grinning. Austin nods and closes my door after I get in the sexmobile and then he gets in the drivers seat. "Yeah, except we're not a real couple so..." Austin says. He starts the car and we start driving home in silence.
We get home and set up all the ingredients. "Listen," Austin says rubbing the back of his neck, he seems to do that a lot when he is nervous or feeling awkward, "I have never done this before." He says. "Done what?" I ask. "Well, any of it. I've never made pancakes, or baked anything, in fact. I've never been 'just friends' with a girl. I'm new to this stuff so go easy on me." Austin says, looking at me with a boyish grin. I nod and laugh, "Mr. Italian that takes food seriously? What happened to him?"
"Hey," Austin puts his hands up in defense, "I said I take food seriously, I didn't say I could cook." He explains. I laugh and shake my head. "We may have a problem because I can't cook to save my life." I say. "Google." Austin says it and takes out his phone. What would we do without google? Probably burn the house down.
We find a recipe and mix all the ingredients in a bowl. Once they are mixed we pour the batter into the pan and I go onto my phone while I wait for it to cook. I start chuckling and Austin nudges me, "What?" he whispers even though there is nobody else in the house. "I googled your name cause I was bored, did you know that Austin was the capital of Texas until nineteen thirty eight. You're also named after Austin Herbert who is apparently a car manufacturer that is worthy of being in a dictionary." Austin rolls his eyes, "Well at least my name is in a definition, yours probably isn't even in a definition." I Google my name and frown when I realize he is right; my name isn't in the definition. I smell smoke and I turn back around to see our pancakes on fire, "Austin! The pancakes!"
A while later...
We both stare at our masterpieces aka. Burt pancakes. Even with google we still manage to almost burn the entire house down. Austin is frowning at the brown lumps on the plate and I'm laughing, "Maybe if we put Nutella on it, it will taste better." I suggest. Austin takes the left over flower and blows it all over my face and hair. I gasp as he bursts out laughing. I take some of the left over batter while he is not looking and smear it all the way down his cheek. He just laughs with me then he picks me up and hangs me upside down with my legs over his shoulders. I scream and my shirt falls down, towards my face, luckily I'm wearing a sports bra.
Austin tickles me, "Say you're sorry." He says over my laughing. I try to move but he has a strong grip on my legs. "Stop!" I shout, tears brimming my eyes. "Then say you're sorry!" Austin says. "Never!" I shout, moving and trying to block Austin's hand. After Austin doesn't stop, I lose my breath from laughing and finally surrender, "Okay, you win. I'm sorry! Now let me go!" Austin laughs and drops me onto the floor. I groan and run my head, "Jerk!" I say, rolling my eyes. I lie down properly on the floor in the eggs and flour that are messed everywhere and breathe. Austin lies down next to me, looking up at the roof which somehow has a bit of egg yolk on it. "If I lay here, if I just lay here... Would you lie with me and just forget the world?" I say quoting The Fault In Our Stars. "No, I'd f*ck you." Austin says laughing.
I roll my eyes and stand up, laughing. "I'm going to go shower. You can shower too in the guest bedroom." I say then get up and go shower. Once I'm done I change into a soft pink pajama top and black pajama shorts then go back downstairs. I clean up the mess, almost all of it is done and I decide that I am way too short to clean the roof. Lesson learned: Never try baking or you will end up with egg on the roof. I smile and shake my head as I picture Austin trying to mix the butter into the flour.
"It's not mixing!" He groans as he gets flour sprayed all over him. I laugh, "Mix it harder." He sighs, "Why can't I just put it in the microwave?" Austin whines. "Because you already mixed it with the flour and put it in a plastic bowl! I don't need anything exploding in my microwave." I say, laughing. "Fine. We are never baking again, okay?" Austin says, his hands covered in butter and flower. I nod in agreement, looking at the huge mess we made.
I feel warm hands cover my eyes. "Who could that be?" I say, my tone heavy in sarcasm. "Guess." Austin says in a really deep voice. Ugh, I've never had a guy friend with such a sexy voice.
I'm glad he is opening up to me and not putting on a façade. I wonder why he chose me to open up to.
I tap my chin as if I'm thinking, "My pet unicorn?" I say. Austin moves his hands, "Ooh, you u have a unicorn? What is its name?" Austin asks. "Bon Bon. It means sweets in French." I say pretending to do a hair flip. You know rhinos are just fat unicorns. Bon Bon is really fat too. Like a rhino except he is majestical." Austin laughs, "You are definitely one of a kind Miss Jelly tots." Austin says, shaking his head. I roll my eyes, "Says the one who can breathe fire." I say walking up to my room. Austin follows me up with a bag of popcorn in his hands, "Well, we are both different, that's for sure." Austin says.
I wasn't sure if that was a good thing but considering almost every girl is head-over-heels for him, I will assume it was a good thing.
