Alyssa POV
~~~~~~~~~~
I found I was once again in the park I frequented as a child - only, this time I wasn't walking alone in the memory..As a little blonde boy took off running towards the park, I immediately recognized it as a young Luke. Suddenly walking quicker to keep up, I'm surprised by more familiar faces I see. A little girl with bouncy curls and big blue eyes, and a dark haired girl with long pigtails. Liv and I.C'mwon Ally, go faster or you'll falls." Luke calls loudly, beckoning young Alyssa to follow him across the monkey bars. They were in their favorite park, the one Jo or Alyssa's mother always brought the twins and Alyssa after preschool. There were a very large set of monkey bars that weren't attached to the playground equipment where the little kids played. While Liv was playing by the swing set while Jo was talking to her new boyfriend, a bored Luke dared Alyssa to follow him.
Like a little spider monkey, Luke made his way across the playground equipment with ease. Over five feet off the ground with almost a good fourteen inches of space between bars, it was amazing the little boy made it across the monkey bars as small as he was.
Young Alyssa climbed up the jungle gym set, nervously watching her friend. If he did it, she could do it. Young Luke was wrong with his encouragement for her to go faster. Alyssa was wearing leggings and a frilly white skirt her mother had put her in. While climbing across the bars, Alyssa hadn't noticed how her hand accidently held onto her skirt as she tried moving across the bars. She suddenly found herself jerked forward, falling onto the woodchips below with a very loud thump.
A sick sounding snap had occurred from the moment little Alyssa fell onto the wood chips. Doing absolutely nothing, Alyssa found she didn't want to react. There was a clean white bone sticking out of her wrist from how she landed.
"ALYSSA!!" Luke wailed, jumping off the latter and running away. "ALLY'S HURT, ALLY'S HURT!!"
His screams echoed around the park. The only adults who were around were Jo and her boyfriend with the strange mullet hair cut. By the time they two adults arrived on the scene, Alyssa was still sprawled on the hard ground holding up her bloody and broken wrist. She said nothing - no cries left the little girl.
Luke was a different story. The little boy had burst into tears and Liv even started to make disgusted squeals upon seeing the damage done to Alyssa.
"Shit." Jo breathed, suddenly struggling to find something in her large purse.
"Should we get her to a hospital...?" The random boyfriend asked stupidly, looking quite unsure of what to do.
Jo didn't do anything such as bringing the hurt child to the hospital. If her parents found out she wasn't watching the children while they were out with Alyssa's parents, she'd definitely be grounded. There was no doubt about it. Within twenty minutes, Jo was still cooing to the hurt Alyssa, seemingly in an effort not to get the child to cry. Alyssa still hadn't uttered a peep - she was too transfixed by the ugly white bone sticking out of her wrist as she was moved to a random bench to sit.
"What's this, Jo-Jo wasn't watching the kids? Now aren't you a crappy version of Mary Poppins." A familiar voice called to Jo, causing little Alyssa to start to grin from ear to ear. It didn't even matter to the girl that her wrist was hurting and her bone was sticking clean out of her skin. Kai was here.
"I got hwurt." Alyssa grinned as a smirking Kai approached Jo. Kai got down on bended knee to survey the damage.
"Ah, little Ally-cat didn't quite land on her feet, huh?" Kai teased lightly, gently taking the child's hand to overlook the damage.
"Me fine" Alyssa nodded seriously, simply feeling happy and content that Kai was around.
I couldn't help but watch the young me in shock. What she's feeling, I'm currently feeling. I'm reliving the feelings young me was feeling in that exact memory.
The relief, the happiness, the excitement. The little me in the memory was truly psyched that Kai had arrived. She adored him - I adored him.
I watched the strange memory, never remembering any of this. The fall I can remember - to this day heights scare me with the exception of planes. When on one, I'll just divert my attention to the middle seats to avoid seeing how high I am. The fall I can remember, along with pain. Other than that, none of this screams familiarity and yet I know it actually happened. The little girl memory of me who's sitting on the bench a few feet away from where I stand is beaming. Her wrist is obviously broken, the bone sticking clean out of her skin, and yet she's smiling as the memory Kai grabbed her wrist.
"I'm impressed Ally, you're not even crying." Kai notes, frowning at the showing bone on the girl's wrist.
"Me brave." Alyssa giggled, too young to understand saying me to reference yourself wasn't proper English.
"I guess you're growing up, shorty." Kai grinned, motioning for Jo to bend down. "I'm glad you sent what's-his-face away. "I'm gonna need your juice to fix her."
"Ugh." Jo groans. "Can't you just tell me the stupid spell....?"
"Hey, you interrupted my date to help your baby-sitting blunder, and yet you're all pissy at me? That makes sense." Memory Kai snorts, obviously feeling that it made no such sense to him.
