She looked at Warren for a few seconds before asking something which had been eating her the first time he had revealed himself.
"What clan are you?"
She had known of the clans. They were based on their species. The house of the demons, Clan Baird. The house of the arctic wolves, Clan Snow. The house of the nobles, Clan Kent. The house of the magi, Clan Grey. And the hidden house of the bloods, Clan Warden. Each had their mottos and loyalty. Their own goals and agendas. They were friendly enough but there were skirmishes at times. However when threatened, the houses may unite under a single banner.
Haley had trouble judging which house Warren belonged. She had assumed he might be from the house of the nobles but his body structure says otherwise. He was not overly muscular and he seemed to prefer agility over strength, a trait which all magi have. Also most of the nobles had dark hair with the exception of a few blonde females.
However, Warren doesn't seem to also have the sarcastic tone that all magis share. He was shy and respectful. He also had a talent for blades as it seemed. And no magi family had silver eyes.
"I don't know mi'lady. I was born without a father. Only with a mother. All she told me was that I was a special boy." He shrugged. "She also told me to watch out for anyone with that emblem. Your emblem."
"Why?" She asked.
"She said that our family had owed our lives to the house of demons. They had done us a great deal apparently." He shrugged again.
Haley leafed through all the information she had stored at the back of her mind. She had read about families giving their lives to the house of demons but none of them had any magical abilities. The only line that had any magic in them was decimated nearly centuries ago.
'Unless...?'
"Tell me, Warren, what's your last name?"
"My last name? Teryn. Warren Teryn."
She was disappointed. She nodded her thanks. She looked around once before telling him to pack her bag. When he asked why, with a bemused expression she answered "We're leaving."
"We, mi'lady?" He asked. She nodded once before saying "I expect my luggage to be fully packed when I come back." The she swiftly turned. "By the way, Warren. You might want to resign since you will be living at my estate."
She quickly left the hotel room and ran outside. There she met the little boy from earlier. She approached him with caution.
"Well little boy, I finally got you!" The boy looked back before sneering. His sneer slowly turned into a twisted smile.
"Or maybe it's the other way around."
People started to approach her slowly. She counted six in total. Slowly the boy backed until the six people completely surrounded her.
A shriek resounded as all six spazzed. The sounds of bones snapping and meat stretching filled her ears as the six morphed into disfigures monsters.
The monsters were ugly with one arm larger than the other. It had claws the size of her head. The jaws were large with rows of sharp teeth. They growled at Haley before charging.
'Damn they're fast!' she thought as a monster had tried to gut her. Fortunately she was faster than the monster. She summoned her dagger and threw it at the first beast instantly killing it. Her dagger clattered noisily to the ground as the monster disintegrated into pieces of meat.
'That's one down.' She dodged another clumsy strike and kicked the monster back. It staggered but did nothing else. However it had given her enough time to grab her dagger. She twirled it in her hands before launching herself at the nearest monster. However, the monsters seemed to be smarter than they look as one of them launched a spiked projectile at her. She was forced to block. The strength behind the projectile was strong enough to stun her so she ended up being surrounded by the monsters. They launched themselves at her.
