Little Moments

In the Dark

He stood at the window. Outside the world seemed so simple. The lights below flickering in the distance, the sound of a train a mile down the road met his ears. His eyes carried his dreamless mind over the distance he could see till they met the horizon.

A gentle world.

Why was that so funny?

It was anything and everything but gentle.

A kind world, sometimes.

A simple world...

From this high, it seemed so easy to understand. The lights were starting to turn off. It was midnight. The world around him was going to bed.

Small hands touched his bare sides and wrapped around his torso. He could feel the small form behind him. He could smell the shampoo from the one behind him, the damp hair strands touching his back. Freshly clean from the shower.

"What are you doing standing here?" A quiet voice whispered to his ears.

"Thinking." He said in return.

"Too much?"

"Probably."

A moment of silence passed and he enjoyed the little gesture of fingers linked around his waist keeping them close. His hand rested on the pair, drawing little shapes on the back of the hand.

"It's beautiful up here."

"Yeah."

"Let's go to bed."

"Ok."

Neither of them made a move.

"Aki."

"Hmm."

"I love you."

Aki smiled. Turning around in the embrace to look at a little smiling brunet looking up at him.

"I love you too." He said, taking the hands from him and holding them in his own.

Sam was looking at him, taking in everything he guessed. Aki watched his eyes, the gold flecks shimmering whenever his eyes flicked in the slightest. All the lights in the room were off, and they just stood there by the window in the dark. Sam lifted their hands from their sides, to up by their shoulders. He let go and wrapped his arms around Aki's neck, playing with the longer hairs at the nape of his neck.

"You might need a hair cut soon."

Aki smiled at him, his hands clasped at the small of Sam's back and they stood flush against one another.

"Maybe." He replied.

"You could always put it in a pony tail." Sam added bunching up some of the hair, Aki shook his head.

"I wouldn't look good in a pony tail."

"You look sexy no matter what." Sam shrugged.

"Oh?" Aki raised a brow.

"Mmmmmhmm~" Sam purred looking up at him.

"I see." Aki said looking up from Sam's eyes and to the other side of the room.

"Come to bed." He teased stepping back. "We have an early day tomorrow."

Aki nodded. "Yeah."

Tomorrow was another day that could mean another adventure or another possible death sentence.

As long as it was with him it was okay.
