Chapter 6:

~James~

Aware that my appearance in the hallway has aroused a bit of curiosity, I walk over to a door on the opposite side of the hallway to where Marcus, Jase, Darin and Selena were standing and knock on it loudly several times. It opens, and music drifts out into the hall from the room within for a few moments before somebody turns the volume down so it is no longer audible. Then Rhiannon is standing in the doorway, raising right up onto the ends of her pointe shoes so that she is almost the same height as her me. She smirks and raises an eyebrow slightly when she sees the state of my clothes.

"Well, you're a bit of a right mess, aren't you?" she observes teasingly. A light rosy tone has flushed her cheeks as a result of her exercising.

I just roll my eyes. "Yeah, well you're still short," I comment, noticing that even on pointe she still couldn't match my height.

"My height is normal for my age, you're just part giraffe," Rhiannon retorts, giving me a light tap on the shin with her shoe. She didn't hit too hard, otherwise those wooden blocks on the end of her feet could seriously hurt.

I lean against the wall and fold my arms against my chest. My expression is still relaxed, my eyes still glinting humorously, but something in my tone of voice became subtly more serious. "I don't suppose you got that email from our aunt and uncle this morning, did you?"

Rhiannon's expression sours, and a frown creasing her brow. "Yeah, I did," she says bitterly. "I can't believe that they would do this. I didn't bother replying to it, but I suppose we'll have to."

I nod in agreement. "We'll meet up later on so we can write it together. Because I know that if I let you do it alone, they would receive a rage response in capital letters, and if I do it by myself....I'll probably resort to using words those knuckleheads can't understand."

Rhiannon chuckles. "True," she says, a grin lighting up her features and removing the scowl from her face.

I pause for a moment, my expression thoughtful, then I give a decisive nod. "Right then, you might as well get back to your prancing and frolicking for now, and I guess I'll see you later," I say, not looking at her but smirking cheekily as I take out my phone and pretend to check my messages.

"Prancing and frolicking?" Rhiannon replies flatly, putting her hands on her hips. "Really? That's what you think dancing is?"

"How would I know what your dancing looks like?!" I demand lightly, my expression mischievous. I have actually seen her dance many times, and though I would never admit it, watching always made me have a proud big brother moment. "You're always boxed up in that studio by yourself."

"Well, I'll stop boxing myself up in the studio when you get out of that workshop more and start dressing like a normal teenage boy," Rhiannon retortes sarcastically, a cheeky glint in her eye.

"Shut up, Rhia,"I say, giving her a playful shove, which knocks her off the balance of her pointe shoes so she has to come back down onto flat feet. "I'll talk to you later," I add after chuckling lightly, already starting to walk away at a casual pace to my locker just a small distance down the hall.

"Later, Loser!" Rhiannon calls after me, quietly laughing to herself and shaking her head slightly.

I slowly sip on my macchiato as I pull out my laptop and scroll around on my internet. As far as I know everything that I need to know about school I have already researched, so now I just have to look around to find something new. I find some nature images and save them into my library. Soon I will change one of them to be my desktop saver. I probably should start my beginning class introductions. I make my way out of the cafeteria and walk down one of the hallways. It is way too early for me to recognize the hallways, as now they all look the same. I am positive that I am opening the door to the freshman hallways when actually I open the door to find somebody practicing some sort of dance.
