Amberly and I danced until a slow song came on. Then Mason stole her away and I went to get a shot of vodka. Malik walked up to me and took a shot with me.
"Wanna dance?" He asked.
I smiled at him as he dragged me out to the dance floor. I slid my arms around his neck and he placed his hands on my waist. I swear I felt electricity at his touch. my breath hitched in my throat. My heart rate sped up when he looked into my eyes. They flashed again.
"You don't really hang out with anyone, do you?" I asked.
"What gave you that idea?" He laughed a little.
"Well, everyone seemed so surprised that you ate lunch with us. And talked to me. And came to the party tonight. They are acting like it's like some big scandal." I looked away for a moment. I didn't know why but my cheeks were burning under his gaze.
"Me and my sister are naturally introverts. The only reason she is so bubbly now is because of Mason. He makes her really happy. It's like they are soul mates." There was a sad glint in his eyes that made me want to comfort him.
"What's wrong Malik?"
He shook his head and then smiled at me. But the smile on his face didn't match the despair in his eyes. I took his hand and led him outside.
"It's nothing Kai. Let's go back to the party." But the look in his eyes showed that it was obviously something.
"Not until you tell me the truth. I don't like being lied to." I crossed my arms stubbornly and stood rooted to the spot.
Ten minutes of silence went by. I kept staring at him, waiting for him to answer me. He looked at me and seemed to realize that I wasn't giving up. He sighed.
"Kai... I know what you are."
Now it was my turn to be silent. How could he possibly know?
"Kai, I'm a vampire too. I could sense you were that day you bumped into me. And I could smell the blood in your thermos. So could Amberly and Mason. Then when I walked you home I saw that you were not only living with but you were engaged to another vampire...I wanted to rip his head off."
He stood there, patiently waiting for me to answer. He looked tense though, like he was waiting for me to run for the hills screaming my head off or something. I could see in his eyes that he was hoping I would stay. I don't know why he looked like that. I'm a vampire too. Why would I go running? I laughed a little.
"What's so funny?" He asked.
"Well, you look like you are expecting me to run away scared. But why would I? haha. we are both vampires. I have nothing to be scared of. Maybe if I was a human and you were telling me you were a vampire." I laughed again and this time he laughed with me. He seemed to relax a little.
"So, Why would you want to rip Jason's head off?" I asked him. That part did worry me though. I love Jason. He is my soul mate and I won't let anything happen to him.
He just stared at the ground for a minute. This is crazy. Some of my new found best friends just happen to be like me. What are the odds? Malik wouldn't look at me again. He just kicked the brick wall, leaving a sizable dent. Well, there is no denying his vampire strength.
"Just forget it. I just got a weird feeling about him. Let's go back to the party, okay?"
Before I could answer he dragged me back inside and onto the dance floor. He was hiding something from me and I would find out what. But for now, I let it drop and just had fun. So many guys tried to dance with me, but Malik glared at them until they walked away.

"So, you know that we're vampires now." Amberly said on the way home.
"Yup. Why didn't you tell me?" Malik was driving because me and Amberly had a little bit too much to drink. I was going to just stay at there house tonight. Jason was not too happy about that.
"I wasn't sure how to talk to you about it. Plus I could tell that you're still a new born. And I was still in shock that you managed to get Malik to talk and leave the house!" She laughed.
He glared at her in the rearview mirror but I also saw a hint of a smile. When we pulled up to the house Malik helped us both walk inside. We watched movies in the living room for the rest of the night. After the fourth movie Amberly fell asleep. Malik carried her to her bed and came back to the living room with me.
"She was definitely exhausted." He laughed.
"Well, she did a lot of dancing. So did you. You're a really good dancer."
He smiled and looked at the TV screen. It got silent for a little while. It made me a little uncomfortable but I was still a little tipsy. I didn't want to say anything dumb, making things awkward. I kept secretly looking at him, admiring him. He was a beautiful man.
I kept staring at his eyes. they were the most gorgeous green I had ever seen. He was muscular too. I glanced down at his abs, which were somewhat hidden by his shirt, but I could still see the outline of them. Mouthwatering.
"How did you meet Jason?" He asked breaking the silence. I smiled at the memory.
"I was still human. I was at a concert. One of my favorite bands. This strange feeling washed over me. I shook it off and went back to listening to the music...."
~~~~FLASHBACK~~~~
I danced around in the crowd. My first concert. My friend was lost somewhere in the massive group of people, but I didn't mind. I knew we would find each other. I stared up at the band. All of a sudden I got a chill throughout my entire body. I froze. Michelle (my best friend) found me and tapped my shoulder.
"Kai, are you ok?" She looked at me with concern. The feeling went away.
"Yeah, just got the chills. I'm good. Probably just awestruck by the fact that I'm at an actual concert right now!!!!" We grabbed each others hands and jumped up and down, squealing with excitement.
As we started dancing around I got that strange feeling again. I looked around the crowd. My eyes connected with a mysterious man. He held my gaze for what seemed like hours. He gave off this strange vibe. I was rooted to the spot.
Vaguely, I could hear Michelle trying to get my attention. But the whole room just faded away. I easily made my way through the crowd to him. It felt like forever. As I was walking over to him, a name flashed through my mind.
"Jason..." I hadn't realized I had spoken out loud. He gave me a strange look but then he smiled.
"Kai.." I snapped out of the trance. How did he know my name? How did I know his name? I started to move away from him, feeling scared.
"Wait" He grabbed my arm and pulled me close. As he leaned in to kiss me, my heart raced. But the moment his lips touched mine, all my worry and fear melted away. it was replaced by one overwhelming emotion. Love. I couldn't explain it.
~~~~END FLASHBACK~~~~
"It never made any sense to me. But I didn't question it. I love him. Now I understand why. It was our souls recognizing each other. Jason is my soul mate." I smiled to myself.
When I looked over at Malik all I saw was pure hatred and hurt in his eyes. Before I could ask what was wrong he got up and stormed to his room. I was so confused. What did I do? I stayed up a little longer trying to see if he would come back out. He never did, so I passed out on the couch.
Strangely, I dreamt of Malik. He kept trying to tell me something. But as soon as he would open his mouth, Jason would pop up, leaving Malik to sulk away. Over and over again this would happen. Until finally he Amberly woke me up.
I looked up at her as she shoved a cup of blood in my hand and told me Jason was here to get me. I had texted him the address before I fell asleep. She looked like she had just woken up. I grabbed my stuff and hugged her goodbye. Malik was still sleeping.
