V A L E R I E

mom: not sure, exactly... I'll check

I set my phone back down, contemplating whether or not I should actually follow through with the entire idea that I should leave early. I hated being here but only because Grayson managed to mess up my entire life in the course of one day. I tap my fingers against the soft comforter and impatiently wait for my mom to text back.

-

"Are you seriously planning on leaving, today?"
Grayson's voice causes me to jump up in shock. His face is unbearably close to mine and I lean my back closer to the headboard. I furrow my eyebrows and check my phone, the notification that I had received a text managed to light up the screen of my mobile.

(2) text message from mom

I quickly type in my password as Grayson sits on the side of my bed. His eyes stay intent on me and I feel my hands begin to shake in intensity. My mother had texted me back saying that there was a flight today and that she could email me the ticket if I was still interested, that was what Grayson was talking about.

He had managed to read my text messages enough to know the secret that I was desperate to hide. I play with the pad of my thumbs, tapping them against each other as Grayson narrows his gaze. "Val, tell me."

I look up at him and he looks groggy, his voice was raspy and only know how I realized that it was 4am. His voice was barely below a whisper and he leaned in closer as if to saying something so important that no one else could hear.
"Are you?" It sounds like more of a plead.

"Yes." I finally say, my voice sounding dry and lifeless.
Grayson steps back in shock, as if he wasn't expecting me to actually tell him that I was leaving. I rub my eyes and lean up some more so that my back was completely against the headboard. His eyebrow raises and he looks at me.
"Is it because of me?"

I roll my eyes, "What the hell, no."
liar.

"Then why, don't you want to stay in the Bahamas?"

I huff, "I was going to leave anyway, Grayson, I want to leave now."

He looks confused, again. "It is because of me."

I roll my eyes.

"It is because of me. With the entire Biancé thing. It's getting to you."

I fold my arms, not wanting to admit any of the oh so true words that were beginning to spill from his crimson lips. I bite the inside of my cheek to stop myself from saying how I feel because if I do, I'll end up crying and I hate crying. "It's really not, Grayson." I don't look at him.

"Damn it, Valerie! Why can't you tell the truth. You're not over me."

His lips turn to a smirk and I feel the spotlight on me turn even brighter as I let out another agitated breathe.
"How can I get over you, if I was never under you in the first place?" I scoff.

"That's not what you were saying when I fucked you in the elevator. You sure were under me then."

"Fuck you Grayson."

"You already did."
He smirks again and I begin to wonder who I'm even talking to any more.

"Get out."

"You're in my room, in the bed that I'm supposed to sleep in."

My cheeks flame. I roll my eyes and bite the inside of my lip before sliding out of bed, followed by yet another scoff. I grab my phone and a nearby blanket before moving to the couch. Grayson stands, shocked by his previous words. "Where are you going?"
He looks confused, his messy bed hair giving him an even more fuckboyish look. His arms are flexed now and his boxers hang low along his waistline.

"To the couch, and then back to Georgia." I reply.

I lay on the couch, my face facing the thick leather. I pull the covers over my head completely before getting my phone and turning it on. Originally, I had planned on talking to Ethan about whether or not I should leave today or on Friday but by the looks of things, I have already confirmed my decision.

me: send me the tickets. i'll be home by 6.
