The smoke that filled the air was thick, like a dark entity that came to haunt the people of this town. The sun broke through the grey smoke like light through dusty blinds, giving us only a dim light that made the earth look as if it were on fire. Cylia swiped her gloved hand across her face, wiping away the sweat the dripped down her forehead. The gas mask that covered the lower half of her heart shaped face only made things hotter, making the back of her leather gear stick to her skin. "See anything yet, Cy?" A voice murmured in her ear.

Cylia looked up from the rubble that lay in the streets of the outer city, and focused on the top of the wall, where she knew he sat. She could almost make him out, even from the distance she stood from him. His dark skin seemed to glow like burning embers under the sunlight and his goggles sat over his eyes. His teeth sparkled like a sharks as he grinned at her. Cylia flipped him the middle finger, which had his laughter booming in her ear. "Maybe you just called us out here, so you didn't have to do your job Andre." she retorted, reaching back to touch the hilt of her sword.

She traced the spiraling design with the tip of her fingers. "I can do my job just fine. I just wanted to see you." He chuckled.

Cylia shook her head, and kicked a piece of rubble, which went skidding across the cracked road, and disappeared into the smoke. "You're an idiot." She told him.

"As much as I love listening to you two flirt, we have a job that needs to be done." A cold voice crawled into Cylia's system and sent a shiver down her spine.

Felix had always been the leader of the group. He had been here longer than any of them, and had down more for their people then they had. Cylia felt the need to lower her head in shame at the sound of anger in his voice, but knew that he wouldn't be able to her if she had. "Don't worry man; I'm not trying to steal your girl." Andre laughed, yet she could hear the uneasiness in his voice.

"Just get back to work." Felix clipped out, before the walkie system went dead.

Cylia pressed her fingers into her temple, raking her fingers through her hair, and undoubtedly messing up her ponytail. A few strands of inky colored tendrils fell into her eyes. The leather of their gear was breathable and easy to move in, but the heat seemed almost unbearable at the moment. Standing here was going to kill her. Come on, something happen please. She thought, reaching back again for her sword. The blade slid out of its sheath with a quick swoop, the sound of metal sliding against metal hung in the air. The sword felt light in her hand, the handle –cool- against her skin. Cylia took a moment to look down at the weapon in her hand, taking in every detail of the beautiful object. The handle had a bulbous head that curved into a slimmer stick where her hand settled nicely. Two uneven wedges made up the cross guard of the blade, the intricate swirling decorated the whole hilt. The blade was an odd shape, almost like the letter "J". It curved out at the end, and had a small extra point on the straight side. This had been Cylia's favorite weapon ever since she started training. She loved using a sword, specially this one. She swung the blade once in a circle in front of her, listening to the soft whistling sound it made through the air.

"Cy, you got a Res coming right towards you."

Cylia's head snapped up quickly, her body filling with energy at the sound of feet hitting the pavement on a few yard ahead of her. A grin curled across her lips, a sort of sinister look she never really knew she got. Her body was ready to pounce on whoever came out of the smoke, but nothing happened. "Cy, he must have seen you!" Andre's voice yelled in her ear, and that was all it took for her to start running.
