I smiled as y/n stood at the head of the church along with the rest of the choir and sung to the tune of Silent Night. Her skin glowed as the red robe rested against her petite body. She was dedicated from what I could see. Her eyes closed, fist clenched, mouth wide. It looked as if she was an expertise at performing.
My heart clenched as the choir began to lower their voices and she began to do a solo verse which would lead us out of the song.
"Silent night, holy night, wondrous star, lend thy light." She sang peacefully opening her eyes and looking into the crowd. Her eyes glistened with excitement as she released the melodic sound from her throat. "With the angels let us sing, Alleluia to our King."
The beat slowly lowered itself as did her voice. "Christ the Saviour is born. Christ the Saviour is born."
It was silent for the matter of 3 seconds before the church erupted into cheers and praises. I smiled brightly at the love of my life and blew her a simple kiss. She smiled softly and winked before exiting the stage with the rest of the singers. As she walked through the aisles people began complimenting her singing, giving her short prayers, hugging her, and much more. It was such a beautiful sight. The glow on her cheeks rising as the spotlight was on her.
Finally everyone was once again seated. "You did great up there, baby." I whispered gripping her hand and smiling over at her. She smiled and placed a chaste kiss on my cheek and turned her attention onto the pastor's wife.
"Thank you ladies for that beautiful performance. Now I would like to lead us into a prayer for the peace of our souls." She spoke out. Slowly she rose her hands which meant we stood to our feet. I undid the buttons from my suit jacket and placed it on the back of my seat. I folded my hand together and bowed my hand.
"O Lord Jesus Christ," She began before taking a quick breath. "Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you," I nodded my head in response to her words.
"Regard not my sins but the faith of Your Church," She prayed her voice rising with bass. "and deign to give us peace and unity according to your will." "Who live and reign, God..." I heard a couple of praises from the crowd as I nodded agreeing to everything she was saying. "World without end."
"Amen." She whispered into the mic. "Amen." Everyone repeated loudly. I opened my eyes and sniffed before running my fingers through my hair.
"As you all shall know this is the week of, Jesus Christ, our savior's birth. What man may call Christmas. This week, month represent so much for our religion. Without Jesus we would have been sinful sinners. If that makes sense." The crowd laughed at the small joke she released.
"Anyway all jokes aside I just want to keep this message out there. So please listen closely. We wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Jesus. He took away all of our sins. So just remember to worship and praise him when you think of this national holiday."
"Hallelujah." Most of the church replied with before she walked away from the pulpit. Slowly the announcer Jimmy walked onto stage.
This is my cue.
I leaned back to grab my suit jacket and reached into my right pocket. I wrapped my hand around the velvet box and quickly shoved it into my pants pocket.
