Lucy's POV
Right now Lockwood and I were in the taxi on our way to our client, Ms Kimber's house. Apparently she had felt an unwelcome presence when she entered her backyard late that night to check on her chickens. So this is where we came in, we assumed that it is a shade or a lurker, most likely a type one as she said that it made no move to attack her so George thought that we could handle it on our own and stayed at home. We paid the driver and walked up to number 21 Wilsons avenue. It was a fairly big house with ivy snaking up the walls and showing little of the white brick underneath. We rang the door bell and a short plump woman wearing a pink apron came running to answer. "Hello! You must be the agents! Well don't just stand there, come in and make yourselves at home!" She said cheerily with a hint of worry in her voice. "Thank you madam," Lockwood said flashing his grin at her. She undid her apron and grabbed a suitcase and said, " It's getting late and it will be stirring soon, I best be off, good luck!" And with that she hurried out the door.
Lockwood and I set up an iron circle in the kitchen for us to retreat back to in case of emergency. Then we made tea and had our biscuits and then we set out to hunt down our ghost.
Rapiers at the ready we set out in the darkness down the hall and to the back garden. "See any death glows?" I asked,
"Not yet, how about you? Hear anything?" He replied.
"Only a faint whispering, but I can't quite make out the words." He nodded and we continued to walk in silence, listening and looking. We finally reached the back door and I reached out my hand to open the door when suddenly I heard something. I stuck out my arm to stop Lockwood from going outside. "Wait," I whispered, "somethings coming." No further word needed to be said Lockwood unsheathed his rapier and spun around. "I'm seeing a death glow now, wow that one's bright! I don't know how I didn't see it before!" He exclaimed putting on his sunglasses.
"Lockwood, back to the chains, now!" I practically shouted. We raced back down the hall only to be bombarded by flying books! "Poltergeist," I muttered.
"Lucy, we have to find the source!" Lockwood shouted through the banging of the books hitting off everything. I shut my eyes and listened whilst Lockwood batted books away from me with his rapier. "Got it!" I yelled. "In the basement!"
"You go Luce, I'll keep him busy."
With that I raced down the rest of the hall and down the steps to the basement. There was nothing but shelves and a whole lot of junk. Something came whirring through the air and before I had time to react I was sprawled across the floor rubbing the back of my head. "Ow," I mumbled, "that hurt."
"Lucy! Are you ok? Listen to me, the door is locked it's in there with you!" Lockwood called from outside the door.
"I'm fine Lockwood and only one problem," I said, "I dropped my rapier and I can't find it."
"I'll get you out Lucy, just be careful, you have to wait a minute," Lockwood sounded panicked. I got up on the my feet and scanned the room. Ghost fog was curling around my ankles and the poltergeist had taken a solid form and was slowing advancing towards me, I let out a small cry for help as I retreated backwards across the room. Suddenly the window shattered and someone threw a magnesium flare which made the ghost vanish. "Jut in time Lockwood," I said with a sigh of relief, but the person I turned to face wasn't Lockwood. It was a guy around my age, with sandy coloured hair and hazel eyes, he also wore a lopsided grin.
"You can call me James," the boy said.
