Anime, (ANN-UH-MAY), is a type of Japanese Animation. The word is the abbreviated pronunciation of "animation" in Japanese, where this term references all animation.
Some Anime TV shows are based off of Manga, an art form used in graphic novels. For example, Black Butler/ Kuroshitsuji is based off of a Manga.
So basically, some people can say its a genre of cartoon. On Netflix, there is a genre for Anime.
