"Hello," I chirped, smiling brightly at my new friend.
"Hi," she replied, smiling. Her smile was bright enough to blind a million men.
"My name is Elsie. Who are you?" I asked her, tilting my head.
"I'm Ariella. I really like your eyes," she responded, staring into my eyes, seemingly drowning in a pool of lust. She was so beautiful, and I noticed in that exact moment that I wasn't like any of the other girls in the classroom, or even my school. I was in love with Ariella.
Today, I noticed, Ariella was wearing a pair of brownish-grey jeans with brown cowboy boots and a grey and white striped jumper. Her hair was up in an extremely curly ponytail. I felt rubbish in my white jumper and black leggings that were paired with grey hightop sneakers and a messy bun.
"I wanna be your friend," I suddenly told Ariella.
"I wanna be your friend, too!" she exclaimed, standing up and hugging me. It was quite a prolonged hug, lingering and warm. I felt how indifferent I was towards her. As all of the other girls around us in the room were sitting with their "boyfriends," I was sat in the corner with Ariella, flipping the pages of the book we were reading every few minutes. The whole world seemed quiet, peaceful even. As if they all wanted this to happen.
Of course, in the moment, I was young, innocent, unknowing that being in love with another girl would get me in loads of trouble later on, be it with my friends, family, or even myself.
