The rest of the day went by quickly. After Shay followed me to the bathroom and tried to convince me that what happened was just boys acting like pigs, I went to my classes and took the bus straight home. When the bus pulled up to the corner of my street, I hurried off and walked to the house letting myself indoors. The house was eerily quiet, I expected mom to be home or something. I dropped my backpack and walked into the kitchen. dishes were piled in the sink which was odd. With my mother being home all day the house was always spotless. I didn't pay much mind to it and settled in the living room to do homework, waiting for someone to come home.
It was about an hour later when I heard the front door. It was shaking like someone was trying to open it with a key but couldn't figure out how. I sighed and stood up walking lazily to the door. I looked through the side window, rolled my eyes and opened the door. Standing there were Jasmine and Danny was tapping his foot and typing on his phone behind her. "Hell no." I sighed under my breath, no one heard. "What is he doing here?" I asked Jasmine. She frowned "Chloe we've been going out for two weeks now." "Then why-" I looked over a Danny who looked me dead in the eyes. Jasmine seemed happy, and I wasn't going to be the one to screw that up. "I'll be in my room. Call me if you need me." I grabbed my books, glared at Danny and headed upstairs.

By the time I woke up it was morning, and I had missed dinner and my parents. I rolled out of bed and walked groggily into my sisters' room. She sat up typing on her computer. Her face was coated in a type of mask and her toes were separated by foam to keep her freshly painted nails from dripping. It took her a while to notice I was standing in the doorway but when she did she sighed. "Yes Chloe?" She used to call me Clo. "Are mom and dad home yet?" She looked at her phone and giggled "Sorry Chloe what was that?" I rolled my eyes. "Where are mom and dad?" Jasmine began to text on her phone. "I think they came home late last night." "And Josh?" Jasmine nodded he's here too I think." I sighed and walked out. She probably didn't even notice I left. Sure enough the 9 year old was curled up in his race car bed snoring away. My parents were also in their room. "Hey hon" my mother greeted me when I stepped into the room. She slouched against the backboard of their king-sized bed and her eyes were weary. "Where were you last night?" I asked sitting on a bench at the foot of the bed. My father snored soundly next to my mother not budging. My mothers weak smile faltered when I asked. "Your brother just got sick that"s all." She looked down, now I was concerned. "With what?" I asked and she responded with a shrug. "The doctors will call when they get more information. They'll call and tell me that there's nothing wrong with my baby boy." I smiled at her and stood. "I'm gonna get ready for school." She didn't respond and I left feeling more sad than I did when I walked in. Before I went to brush my teeth I checked in Josh. He was sleeping soundly, curled up in his race car bed.
