I was hoping that school would be normal again, especially since everything around me seemed to be crumbling. I wanted to hang out with Ty and Shay again. I wanted my sister to offer a slight wave in my direction if she saw me in the halls. But I had changed, my friends had changed, my sister had changed. When I walked into school Shay wasn't waiting for me at my locker. I saw Jasmine but she ignored me. When I got to lunch Ty and Shay were laughing and another guy sat across from them. Shay caught my eye and smiled lightly. The guy also turned around. He had dark hair and caramel skin. He was handsome but not my type. Even though the table had plenty of room it just seemed that my presence would have crowded it. I turned and started to leave.
I decided that I would spend lunch period in the library studying like a loser. I was sure Shay didn't want to talk to me, I had avoided her all last week. When I reached the library I grabbed a table and slid into one of the seats. I had just cracked open a book when I heard people enter the space all at one. I looked up ready to take the place of the librarian and shush the people when I saw Chase. He grinned when he saw me. "Hey Chloe." "Hey". I responded and looked back down. Then he sat down next to me. "Is there something you want Chase?" I saw his shoulders shrug through the corner of my eye. "Just saying hi, something that you don't seem to do very often." I chuckled. "You realize that hi is simply a polite greeting you use to acknowledge someone and then keep it moving?" He laughed "what if I don't want to keep it moving?" I rolled my eyes and stood up "bye Chase." I started to leave "Wait!" He called out. I turned "I want you to meet my band." I crossed my arms "you have a band." I said sarcastically. He nodded "Why is that so hard to believe?" I shrugged and stepped forward. "You look more like a jock that's all." "I am" he smiled and moved to another table that his so called 'band' occupied. I followed and sat at the table. He motioned to the first guy. He was tall and lanky with long brown hair. He had been fiddling with his drum sticks since the group walked into the library. "This is James, we call him Slash though." Slash nodded towards me "hey". I waved. The next guy was Tony, he winked at me and I could immediately tell he was a ho. "He flirts with everyone" Chase assured me. Then he introduced me to a guy named Cam. Cam shook my hand and smiled at me, he was extremely polite to be be in a "hardcore" band as Chase had put it. Lastly Chase introduced me to a girl. She wore a skater skirt with stockings, with a t shirt and leather jacket. Her hair went down her back and faded from jet black to emerald green. "Trix" she introduced herself extending her hand to me. "Like the cereal?" I asked shaking her hand. Trix frowned but the boy suppressed laughter. "Sorry." I mumbled. Trix shrugged, "it's fine I get that a lot." She acted like it was ok but the look she gave me before the boys had begun to laugh, was not. "This is Chloe." Chase announced to everyone "She rides my bus."
