Jenna's POV
I hear the big spotlight above the stage flip on and, like everyone else, turn my head in that direction. The whitecoat dude from the party strides onto the stage with an air of excitement.
Nope.
Nope nope nope.
"Good morning," he adresses the small crowd with a smile plastered on his face, "You're probably wondering why you're here. This will all be explained soon, but I shall start from the beginning.
"All of you, as you were informed earlier, are in a highly secretive research center called Sburbian Laboratories. Here, many trained professionals run tests. These vary in many factors, though we mainly study the human mind. Ah, yes. The human brain is a marvellous thing. You may or may not have heard this before, but did you know that the average human only uses ten percent of their brain capacity? This is where you, my dear children, come in. Our researchers have chosen your class- and a few more, accross the country- to be the test subjects in this project. We have employed 'special' teachers, to develop your brains to do amazing things, somewhat beyond scientific comprehension! We have subliminally been behind your education your entire lives." A dark haired kid raises his hand. "So, you made us all smartasses?" he asks, causing the scientist to chuckle. "No, as I said, we're beyond that. The skills you have obtained could be described as... psychic." This is followed by excited murmurs all around. "Please, settle down!" the man waits until the children are silent once more before resuming his speech. "This past week, we've been testing you, to see which ones of you had positively responded to the experiment. The scene at that party, for example," he looks at me, the smile never leaving his face, "It was all a test. But, this has only been the beginning. We must now test you to see what kinds of skills you've acquired, and why. I think this is enough for now... any questions?" "How come you separated the class in half?" asks the girl who'd been talking to Keb on the bus. "As I said, the project has only had an effect on about half the class. Fourteen of your classmates are in regular old science camp, mixing test tubes of water with food coloring. You are here for a greater purpouse." The same boy who'd spoken up earlier asks, "Why children? Why us?" "Well, young minds learn best. Hard to teach an old dog new tricks... Aren't extraordinary abilities worth it?" The boy nods. "Uh, where'll we sleep? You're not gonna lock us up in cages like in Maximum Ride, right?" says a brunette in a worried tone. "Oh, no, not at all. In fact, it's about time I show you to the dorms." With this, the scientist hops off the stage and opens a door I hadn't seen earlier. "Oi!" I yell, "What's your name, mister nice guy?" He turns around and answers, "You can call me Dr. Weisson. Now, follow me."
We have no alternative but to follow Weissasshole down a narrow hall in a single file line. I am near the end, in front of Declan and Keb, who are discussing something in whispers. The Maximum Ride chick's in front of me. I poke her shoulder and whisper, "Hey, do you know what's going on?" She turns around, walking backwards so as not to stop those behind her. "No idea," She whispers, "My name's Lindsay, by the way." "I'm Jenna." I smile a bit. She turns back around and keeps walking normally. The group trods for a few minutes until we reach a wider hallway.
"Welcome to your home for the next two weeks!" says Dr. Weisson cheerily.
