Melody's P.O.V

After visiting hours were over I hopped up and knocked rapidly on Vanellope's door, smiling widely. She opened it with a wide smile too. In unison, we both spoke first.
"You'll never guess what just happened!"
We both paused and giggled.
"You go first." I said, not being able to hide my smugness. She may have a surprise, but mine was definitely better.
"I'm getting adopted!" She said, squealing happily.
I hugged her, jumping back "I am too!"
We both exchanged a girly squeal before I continued. "Not just by anyone, though. I'm getting adopted by the one, the only.... Dan and Phil!"
Silence.
"What?" She said, her eyes widening and her smile fading. "Oh... Heh, I thought you were actually getting adopted for a second..."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Not that way! I just mean, you had me there for a second.""
"I'm not kidding! Look." I took my phone out of my pocket, showing Vanellope the picture I took with our favourite YouTubers earlier. Vanellope's smile just grew and grew.
"Wow! They live near here right? You'll still be at school?"
"Not sure... I hope so."
We both hugged again.
This was going to be a fun ride, the start of a new life.

Dan's P.O.V

I woke up at 11:30am the next morning, that was quite early for me.
I sat up, muttering "Oh shit... There's something I need to do today isn't there... Now what is it- Holy fuck!" I yelled the last part, earning a distressed yell from the other room.
"Dan?! Dan, are you alright?!"
"I'm fine, Phil."
Phil came into my room, his blankets draped around his shoulders and a sleepy look on his face. "You gave me. Heart attack. What's up?"
"We need to get ready to go."
"To what?"
"I don't know... Maybe collect our daughter!"
"Oh sssssshhhhh.... Sugar!"
I loved the way Phil did that. As if swearing would get him locked away in prison or something like that.

Only a few minutes later, Phil and I were ready. It's amazing how fast we can do things when we need to. We headed down the cold, wet streets of London, hand-in-hand. We didn't care about the strangers staring and booing. We only cared about each other.

We finally arrived, knocking on the wooden door. A small, kind-faced lady with her hair tied back in a neat grey bun greeted us. "Why, hello! You must be the people adopting... Melody... Am I right?"
We both smiled and nodded.
"Right this way, please. She'll be delighted to see you."
