Melody's P.O.V

We sat down at a three-seater table before ordering.

"What do you want?" Phil asked me, taking his wallet out of his jeans pocket.

"Uh... I'm not really in the mood for coffee right now" I replied with, looking away.

"Alright." They both answered in unison.

"Could I just have a hot chocolate?'

Dan smiled "Okay... Phil?"

"Um, no I'm ordering. What do you want?"

"Uh... Why are you ordering?"

"I'm older."

"Well I'm taller, so I win."

Phil shoved Dan playfully "Noooo!"

Dan stole Phil's wallet, "So what'dya want?"

"Fiiine, just get me a Pumpkin Spice. It's Autumn, so I might as well."

Dan chuckled "Of course." He stood up, joining the long que to buying us all our drinks. It was just Phil and me.

A man walked past quickly, making me flinch and fall back into Phil's lap. I squeaked and got up quickly "I'm so so-sorry!"

Phil's P.O.V

I looked down at the ginger haired girl as she fell into my lap. She quickly got up, apologising over and over.

"Hey, hey, Melody, it's alright. What scared you?" I asked her.

"J-Just... A man walking past... I'm very jumpy.. Sorry..."

"It's alright! Y'know, sometimes I get scared when the bin lorry drives around. It's really loud!"

Melody giggled. That little smile of hers was the best thing I had seen all day. It seemed to light up the entire shop with happiness.

Dan came back with our coffee and Melody's hot chocolate. "Hey! What did I miss?"

"Nothin' much." Melody shrugged.

I nodded, smiling at Melody. We had definitely made the right decision to adopt a child.

Dan's P.O.V

We finally got back to the apartment. It was quite late, since Phil and Melody had insisted we go to the park for a while. We ended up staying there for a few hours.

Melody gave us both a big smile, giggling sleepily. "So, what now?"

"Now, sleep." I said, smiling at Melody

"Awwwww!" The ginger girl whined like a five-year-old. "But I don't wanna!"

"We don't always get what we want, I'm afraid." Phil answered, yawning loudly.

"Want me to show you where your room is?" I asked her, tilting my head to the side. She nodded enthusiastically, hopping up and down. I took her through to where the office used to be, stretching my arm out towards it and doing a one-handed Jazz hand.

Melody's eyes widened as she walked into the room. The walls were white, like everywhere else, but that didn't mean it couldn't be brightened up with a few posters. In the middle of the room sat a rather large, yet still only single-person bed, with a violet coloured sheet and pillows. In the corner of the room sat a black desk with a large PC sitting on it, that Phil had stuck a few cat stickers on the back of. There was a few shelves and a large wardrobe to keep clothes in, all in black.

"Decorate it any way you like!" I said, as Phil brought her suitcase into the room. "We'll give you some space to unpack, alright."

Melody turned to us, nodding her head excitedly "Okay! Thank you, thank you, thank you!" She ran forward, pulling us both into a big group hug.

Nobody's P.O.V

And through the fabric of Dan's shirt, which the smaller female had buried her freckled face into, Dan swore he heard her mumble.

"I love you both."
