Prologue

I was sitting on my swivel chair with my feet propped up on my desk, rock music blaring through the speakers. My best friend, Ula, was laying on my bed behind me. None of us were talking, just listening to the music.

"Do you have Smarties?" She asked, when the song ended.

"I don't know. Ask Harriet," I replied. Harriet is my personal butler. And nanny. He's really professional and serious, but he's like my adult best friend...even though he's 40.

"I hope you aren't hiding them under your bed," She muttered, but I caught it.

"You know me so well," I laughed. I never really eat those candies, but I keep them under my bed for whenever she comes over.

She turned upside down, lifted my covers, and reached her hand under my bed. She pulled out about 30 wrappers full of Smarties.

There was a knock on my door. I paused the song. "Who are you?" I asked, even though I knew it was probably Harriet or my parents. But I still had to ask for "safety reasons".

"Your mother,"

"Then just get in,"

"Ahh!" My head twirled over to Ula, who was now on the floor.

"What are you doing, lady?" I asked. She grinned sheepishly. "Did you fall of the bed again?"

"No! I was trying to do a front flip off the bed and I...fell. I fell off the air. Not off the bed," I rolled my eyes at her weirdness. But we were both weird, so I would've said the same thing.

My mum, Queen Lunar, came in through the door. "You know to keep your door locked!" She scolded me. I rolled my eyes.

"Mum, no one can get in. We have high tech security." I rolled my eyes, something that I do a lot. "What do you need?"

"Ula, your mate's at your house," She turned to Ula, who was on the floor scratching her ear with her bare foot. And no, she's not in wolf form.

"And...?" She asked carelessly.

"Your parents are home,"

"Oh sh*t!" She quickly got up and jumped over my bed, and ran out the door. I laughed. Her parents never really liked her mate, even though they're destined to be together forever, and that he's their alpha. But they act like the alpha around him, and he acts like a poor little omega around them. It's really funny.

"Language!" Mum called after her. I rolled my eyes.

"So what do you need?" I asked as she took a seat on my bed.

She took in a deep breath. "Me and your father have...arranged a marriage for you with a very powerful alpha," She told me slowly.

"WHAT?!" I jumped out of my chair, anger boiling up inside me.

"It's for your own good. His pack is the strongest, and it will be good for you,"

"What if he has a mate waiting for him out there somewhere, huh?!"

"His mate is dead," She replied. I sat down in my chair, sighing in exasperation, and running a hand through my hair.

"Why? Why do I need him? I still have a mate out there waiting for me, and I'd rather have him than a bloody alpha. Who even arranged this?"

"Me, your father, and the council," She answered.

"Answer all my questions," I growled.
