Link's POV
"Link!! Link wake up, you'll be late for school!!"
I jumped and sat up quickly, my heart racing slightly. I hadn't been expecting to hear the voice of Gully, my adopted younger brother, so early in the morning. I ran a hand through my hair and I swung my legs over the side of the bed, yawning widely.
"Ok ok, I'm up..." I called back, pushing myself to my feet.
I walked to my closet and began pulling out some clothes to wear for the day. I smiled and felt anxiety and excitement well in me.
First day at my new school... I thought excitedly.
I stripped out of my night clothes quickly and put on my new clothes. I looked at my reflection in the mirror and ran a hand through my dirty blonde hair, trying my hardest to tame it.
Good enough! I thought happily, running out of my room.
I walked into the kitchen to see my family in there. Gully sat in his normal spot, bouncing in his chair excitedly. My adopted mother was making breakfast while my adopted dad was reading the paper. I sat down and smiled excitedly.
"Good morning!" I said cheerfully.
My mother turned and smiled kindly.
"Good morning, Link. Did you sleep well?" She asked kindly.
I smiled and shook my head.
"Nope, I was way too excited to sleep!" I exclaimed happily.
She chuckled and shook her head, continuing to make breakfast. I looked at the clock and I impatiently tapped my foot on the ground.
"Ugh, time is going by way too slow! I really really really wanna get to school!" I hissed.
My mother turned and smiled.
"We'll leave soon. The principal called and said that a student named Ravio would be showing you around this morning." She said.
I gasped slightly and smiled. I'd be meeting a guy named Ravio? How exciting was that!
"Can we go now? Please?" I asked sweetly.
My mother chuckled and looked at my dad.
"Could you take him? I'll take Gully today." She said.
He nodded and stood up, beckoning me to follow him. I smiled and followed him happily, a slight spring in my step. I couldn't wait to meet the boy showing me around. When we got outside I instantly jumped into the car and smiled. My bag was already in the car due to my excitement the night before. My dad got in shortly after and then began driving to the school. As we drove he turned to me.
"You'll be respectful to your teachers right?" He asked.
I nodded.
"Yep!"
"You won't go picking fights?"
"Not unless one finds me."
"Link."
"Ok ok, I won't fight anyone. You have my word."
I heard him give a content sigh and soon we pulled up to the large school. At first I was slightly overwhelmed but that all vanished quickly. I grabbed my backpack and smiled.
"I'll see you after school!" I said, hopping out of the car and running into the building.
My father yelled something after me but I didn't hear what it was. I gasped in awe when I entered the building.
I was in the center of a large room with a dommed ceiling. The tiles were white, blue, and green and I noticed a peculiar symbol in the center of the floor. I looked at it then shrugged.
Eh I'll ask this Ravio kid about it later... Speaking of him where's the office?
I looked around the room and saw hallways. I felt my stomach drop and I felt slightly embarrassed.
"Heh... Now I wish I would've had someone come in with me..." I whispered.
"Hey are you new here?"
I whipped around when I heard a boy call to me. I saw a boy about my age walk over to me. He had a hair cut similar to mine only his hair was jet black and he had emerald green eyes. He was in a purple hoodie and dark jeans. I noticed on the hood of his hoodie there were bunny ears sewn onto them. He also wore a black and dark blue stripped scarf that was so long it almost touched the floor. I smiled at this interesting character.
Cute, he must like rabbits and scarfs... I thought.
I met him halfway and I noticed dark circles under his eyes, but I didn't question it.
"Hi! I'm Link! Are you my guide?" I asked, trying to keep the mood light.
The dark haired boy smiled and nodded.
"Yep, I'm Ravio. It's nice to meet you, Link." He said, holding out a pale hand.
I took his hand in mine and we shook hands. I already liked this kid. We pulled away and he smiled at me.
"Well, I'm here to give you a grand tour of the school and walk you through your schedule, if you haven't been told already. You ok with that?" He asked, tipping his head to the side.
I smiled and nodded.
"Yes please! Lead the way." I said.
Ravio smiled and turned to a hallway, motioning me to follow him.
"Ok! Follow me if you would, please! Also I'm not a free guide. My services cost twenty Rupees, but for you only fifteen Rupees." He said, beginning to walk off.
I laughed slightly at the joke, but when Ravio didn't laugh back I felt a little concerned.
"Wait... Are you serious?"
"No, but if you seriously want to pay me I won't stop you. Now come on, we don't have all morning!"
I stood there for a few more moments comprehending what he had just said before I shook my head and ran after the raven haired boy, excitement welling in me.
Ok, first day hasn't started yet and you already have a friend! What can possibly go wrong now?
