I felt at peace as I entered the forest. The crunch of the fallen leaves underfoot and the scent of pine filled my nose. A cold wind picked up carrying the sound of the nearby creek. I broke through the weeds and came to the clearing with the big table like rock in the center of it. I walked to the creek on the right and filled up my empty water bottle. I blinked. A face appeared from under the rushing water.
"AAAAAAHHH," I sprung backward and landed on my rear.
"Do not be frightened young master." a deep voice with a thick irish accent spoke from the water. I blinked again and a small manthe size of a child was standing in front of me. He had a long, brown, and coarse beard and it was braided into two.
"What are you talking about?"
"Master sent me to find you, he said something about a telepathic dream?"
"What's is your master's name?"
" He told me to bring you, that is all I'm suppossed to do."
"Well shall I take you home? To pack?" he questioned
"Uhm. Sure?" I picked my bag up off the ground and put it back on my back.
"What are you?" I asked.
"Well that's just rude. You dont come out and ask someone that. Didn't your mother teach you anything? Then again you are human, your kind isn't for the manners too much." For some reason i didn't take offense, he does have a point.
"Sorry," I murmured.
"Because of your apology, I'm a dwarf. Not one of the snow white kind. Disney has portrayed us in a childish manner. I can't think of one dwarf that doesn't have a beard. That Dopey character is just a disgrace. Hell, I was born with a beard."
"Interesting, So your race is nothing like the characters portrayed in movies?"
"Lord of the rings, yes. Snow White, no. Take my hand we are going the quick way."
"Shouldn't you take me to dinner first?"
"Not my job." He grabbed my hand and chanted something in Latin. i closed ym eyes to blink, I felt a squeeze in my stomach and my ears popped. When I opened my eyes we were in my back yard.
" I need to talk to my mother first."
"Fine, hurry master isn't happy when I'm late." I let go of his hand and ran up the stairs to the back porch. I rushed through the open door.
"Mama!!" I ran into the livingroom, cheeks flushed and panting a bit.
"He sent for me." I breathed out.
"Who?"
"The guy from my vision."
"Oh, how old is he? What's his name?"
"Well I don't know." I looked down at my shoes and peeked under my lashes.
"I'm coming with you." i jumped. I thought I'd have to sneak out. "Well, where does he live?"
"Well, I don't really know that either,"i smiled shyly," but he sent someone for me. He's outside." She looked at me in confusion. "Just come on ma." I led her out the back door where she saw the gruff little man. He looked at me with exasperation.
"Oi! Two of ya'?!?"
"Yes, I'm only 16, my mother has to come with me." I looked at him.
"Fine, but I can only take one at a time."
"Take me first." I stepped up.
"Here,"he stuck out his hand."See you in a bit ma'. "
