When the door had sharp knocks on it, the kettle clicked. I sighed as I put the two mugs on the counter top and then turned to go answer the front door. When I tugged the door open I expected to see my best friend. What I didn't expect to see was Drew Peskew.

His right hand was clenched in a fist from knocking on the door. His arms were covered by the black leather jacket that he usually wore a lot. Something about it screamed danger. His lips were tugged down at the corners and his hair was combed back from what looked like a nervous hand tug. His eye lashes skimmed his cheeks as he blinked.

I swallowed down the confusion in my throat before raising an eyebrow.

"Hello?"

"Yeah, Hi. You left these at my house..."  He held out his hand which showed a silver chain holding a charm of a girl with a crown and a set of keys. My hand reached out to take the items slowly. How did he have these? I don't think I've ever been to his house...

"Um, Thankyou." I replied taking the chain and placing it around my neck. My fingers played with the charm until it rested on the hollow part of my neck. My teeth tugged on my bottom lip as I decided. "Would you like to come in, I was about to make a cup of tea.." Then I stopped. Oh god I sound about eighty years old.

Drew stood for a moment before looking around and taking a step into my house. He shrugged of his jacket and I gently placed it on the coat rack before the door was pushed open. Elle came in her blue spaceman pyjamas holding a tub of Ben&Jerry ice cream and the box set of One Tree Hill. She stopped dumb founded when she noticed Drew.

"Sorry to sound rude but what are you doing here?" She spoke with a look of confusion.
"It's okay Elle, he brought my charm and keys to me, I left them at his house." I answered her before walking towards the kitchen.
"Wait, you were at his house? When was this?" She asked.
"I'm not too sure.. "

"Last night. She was there last night." Drew cut me off and I turned around to face him.

"You must be mistaken I didn't leave the house last night." a laugh escaped my lips as I poured the hot water into the cups.

"You mean after the party right?" Elle turned to Drew who nodded. "Oh. You didn't take a bag with you last night and you didn't come home.. Avayah where are your pills?" She asked as I gave her a mug of tea.

"I don't take pills, you know my dad doesn't like that stuff.." I replied to her as I took a sip of my tea. Elle rolled her lips into her mouth before nodding.

"So, what did you do last night then?" She asked me as she opened the draws of the kitchen mumbling "where is it?" to herself every now and then.

"Mum made us stir fry and we watched Taken. Then my dad phoned and said he'll be home in a few days. That's it really.  What'd you get up too, I haven't seen you in like four days." My tongue burned from the hot liquid.

"Why are you lying? You clearly made that shit up." Drew spat out.

"Drew! Shut up!" Elle snapped and the pulled out the dvd from the draw with a little cheer. She gripped my hand and pulled me up the stairs. "Drew, you should see this too, it might explain..." She pulled me inside my spare bedroom, The Movie Room and sat me on the bed before pressing the tv on and putting in the DVD. Drew sat cautiously beside me with a confused look on his face.

The screen lit up. My mothers face glowed up on the television and I sucked in a deep breath. She didn't look how she did yesterday. She had long blonde hair and a small smile on her face. Her stress lines were visible above her brown liquid coffee eyes. She looked like she was low on sleep.

"If you are watching this then you have forgotten. What I'm about to tell you may not be easy to take in because of your condition. My darling daughter, you were in an accident at the age of 11 years old which made you have moments of memory loss. It makes you think of things that haven't actually happened and effects your dreams. This is from not taking your medication or stress. If you are watching this it means I am not with you at the minute but you should call me the minute it is over and let me know you're okay. "

My mother took a deep breath and twisted the ring on her wedding finger. She brought her hand to her cheek to wipe the tears away before continuing.

"Avayah Scarlett Kenzington you are my only daughter. Your birthday is the 18/10/99. You were in the accident on the 12/11/10. If you are watching this you must have forgotten and for that it saddens me deeply to tell you that during the accident, your father passed away..-"

My hand reached to the pendent on my neck. No. No she was lying. I haven't been in an accident. The DVD paused as I turned to Elle.

"What is this? Why is she lying, I spoke to my father last night.." I paused trying to think. Last night. I couldn't think of anything. "I think.."
