In Time

She sat right there every day on a hard wooden chair
tapping on the familiar glass desk that she woke up to every morning with her gingerbread skin and cinnamon hair.
Her face grayed in the glow of her computer screen clicking into class every 45 minutes, but every 45 minutes her mind wavered to other places, to other things.
Like the tangerine cat outside the burgundy window with it's evil eyes and sharp kitten fangs waving it's tail as if to say hello.
tap tap click click her fingers back to work as she presses down on letters
her trusty keyboard as light as a feather.
"I do not like people" she states with all seriousness no grin on her face just a chilling coldness in her eyes.
But it truly was not them that she despised.
For the children believed in fairies and friends
but the girl believed in time.
In time no one will believe in fairies and in time there'll be friends
To share her own special state of mind.
In time Adults won't ridicule her
In time arrogance will be lost
In time the tangerine cat outside the burgundy window will be no more
and in time the wooden chair will break
in time the glass desk will be so full of dust.
That her parents will throw it away.
"In time" the girl said every 45 minutes clicking away the days.
