The Beginning

Its was a cold Monday, I hated going to school. But since I didn't want to stay at my house and be forced to clean, I went. Only I had another reason; it wasn't the friends that made me smile everyday, it was seeing him. Everyday, his brown eyes making contact with mine. I loved school for that exact reason, and that's the spark that started it all.
I walked into the doors and sat under the stairs like I do everyday, except today was different. No one showed up. I was completely alone in my school. No teachers? No students? I checked my phone for the date, wondering if it was a holiday.

I didn't understand, the doors were open so someone had to unlock them? I got out my phone and started texting my friends on Kik. No responses. I was scared but remained silent and thought I was just early, and the security guards were in a different room.
7:50: nothing but silence filled the school.
8:15: where is everyone? I start to walk to my first period class. Doors are locked the lights are on. I don't know why I stayed, I just didn't want to go home. So I sat in the hall and waited for a sign of life.
8:50: I got up, I was starting to get concerned. I walked out of the school and went down Spruce Valley Drive. I went straight to the only person I knew. Josh. On the way i searched the streets for a sign of life. Hoping for a moving car, or a person. When I got to the door I knocked four times and yelled "hello!"  He opened the door, I quickly hugged him. Without thinking I started to cry, he didn't know what to do so he just let me in and sat me down.
"Are you okay?" He asked, his deep voice so soothing and calm.
"Where are your parents?" I asked nervously, wiping away the tears.
"I don't know I heard the knocks and came to the door." He sounded confused as he was now looking around his house.
"Well, no one is at school. Or on the streets. Or in any houses. Why are you still here, I thought I was alone?"
"What do you mean?" He asked while pulling out his phone.
"I mean I think something is happening, or has happened."
"What do you expect we do? My phone isn't working so something is definitely wrong"
"I might know where Elisabeth lives, can you come with me?" I asked him worried yet concerned, he looked down and realized he was in boxers and a deadpool T-shirt.
"Can I get dressed before we travel across town?"
I laughed at the comment, though this wasn't the time to crush on him.
"I'd hope so, you'd be a bit cold."
