Chapter 8

Madison's POV----

I ran until I couldn't breathe anymore, I stopped once I turned the corner to a dead end. I heard officers yelling and shouting so as quick as I could I ran to the side of a garbage bin and hid. Once the voices faded out I looked up to see no one in sight. A whisper came from behind me. "Madison, hey Madisonnnn look at me please," I turned to see Mae up behind me.
"What the hell?!!?! You gave me a heart attack!!!"
"Sorry princess didn't mean to disturb you."
"Sorry princess didn't mean to disturb you," I mimicked. She rolled her eyes at me and laughed. My hands became clenched as I walked away. I could see the hotel not to far away but a fence stood in my way. I took my shot anyway.
"Where do you think you're going," Mae asked.
"As far away from you as possible," I said smiling at her as I began climbing.
"No seriously."
"Well you see that tall building over there that kept us safe, yeah that's where I'm going."
"Not without me! I'm not staying here."
"Are you sure about that I mean look at that," I pointed to the trash bin,"it looks comfy and it seems to look just like you."
Mae didn't think my joke was very funny but I sure did. There's no way I'm letting her back into my life that easily. She's gonna have to earn back her trust before I ever help her. I hopped off the fence once I was on the other side and looked her dead in the eyes.
"That's what you get for getting drunk with my ex and killing my mom," then i walked away not turning back.
I hate talking about what happened with Mae and I that's why I can never tell the girls because it crushes me every time I talk about it.
Here's what happened that night:

My ex Bryan and I had gone to this huge blow out for his friends cousins birthday. Which was Harry's. We had a lot of fun and then I started going to sleep. I told Bryan that I'd be in the car waiting when he was ready. I hadn't known he had been drinking all night and if I did I would've taken him home. My best friend (at the time) was of course Mae. She ran out to me wasted, she was yelling but I couldn't make out the words, I told her to call her mom to go home but I didn't think she heard me. Bryan came outside and grabbed my arm and took me inside where I met Harry for the first time. We talked so much I had forgotten about Mae and Bryan. I had asked Harry to help me find them both. We searched everywhere then we went outside to see. In a car Bryan and Mae sat there making out. I yelled Bryan's name but he didn't look at me. Mae did. She grabbed the keys from Bryan's back pocket in a panic and started the car. Harry and I both knew they had been drinking and ran after them. They were swerving around like crazy suddenly a car came, a familiar car came. The two cars collided that night in a roar. I spent most of my night at the hospital with Harry until we both got the news. Our friends were okay but the other driver had died. That driver just happened to be my mother. Since my mom was a single parent I had no where to go. Harry took me under his wing and that's how we started. As for Mae and I that's where we ended. --

I wiped away the tears starting to roll and continued to go towards the hotel.
