Four

A few days have passed since my first date with Zayn. I was meeting up with a few of my best friends for our weekly lunch. As I entered the small cafe I spotted all my friends sitting around a small round table.

"Well look who finally decided to show up," my friend El teased. I was usually one to always be on time to things even early, so for me to be late was something new.

"Ha- ha," I rolled my eyes as I sat down, "so how have you guys been? Anything exciting happen?"

"Nope. It's been the same old routine, wake up, go to work, go home, watch netflix and go to bed. My life just sounded really depressing there, I really need a man." My other friend April said as she took a bit into her sandwich.

"Speaking of men, I have something to tell you guys." I excitedly announced.

"What is it? Tell us now!" Liam commanded. I met Liam back in Uni in a Psych class and you could say we hit it off pretty well. He was definitely my closest guy friend.

"Calm down," I laughed, "anyway I met this guy and we went out on a date a few days ago! I actually really like him, he didn't seem like the typical douche bag guys we find around here."

"Oh my god!" El exclaimed. "What's his name? How'd you guys meet? Will there be another date? This is so exciting! I couldn't be happier for you love."

"His name's Zayn, I had such a lovely time. It was a date unlike any other. It was just a mini adventure and he just made me excited to be alive. Like the entire time I felt this rush of adrenaline and it was just something I haven't felt in a long time. It was that type of adrenaline rush you got back in high school as you ditched class to go out and have fun, and then if you didn't get caught it made it even greater." As I mentioned the name both April and Liam spit their drinks while Eleanor's face paled.

"Is something wrong?" I asked. "Why are you all looking at me like that?"

"Ava, do you know who Zayn is? Does the name Zayn Malik not ring a bell to you?" Liam asked as if the answer was obvious.

"No, should it?" I asked furrowing my eyebrows in confusion. How on earth was I supposed to know who he was?

"I don't know maybe he's the biggest drug dealer and player around town! No big deal or anything right?" April replied, as if it was that obvious. Sometimes she acts like this huge arrogant asshole and its quite irritating to me.

"No? He told me he was a contractor!" I said defensively, as April literally laughed aloud.

"So you're saying we're wrong? Ava the entire fucking city of London knows this. Have you considered that maybe he lied to you?"

"B-but why would he lie to me?" I asked a little hurt he wasn't who I thought he was.

"Because he wants to get in your pants, honey." April sarcastically smiled.

"April stop being mean. But she's right love, he's the top shot drug dealer currently. He has competitors trying to pass him up, but no one can succeed." Eleanor tried to kindly break to me. Eleanor and I have been best friends since high school so she was quite defensive when it came to me and vice versa.

"Yeah Eleanor's right. And he sleeps with practically any girl he gets. It's kind of like a game to him when he's not focusing on his deals, he's banging girls. Rumor is the longest relationship he's had is 3 weeks. The minute he bangs you, is the minute he drops you." Replied Liam. I couldn't believe what I was hearing right now. Obviously I knew he had some kind of record, but I thought he was getting beat up for one of his drunken actions. He seemed like a completely different guy when I was with him and it was really making my head hurt.

"I can't believe he lied to me," I said as I was still trying to process everything I was just told, "that son of a bitch."

"There's another rumor that he wasn't always like that. There used to be some other girl in the picture who fucked him up real bad," April added, "but it's never been officially confirmed."

"So what are you going to do if he asks you out again?" Eleanor asks.

"Obviously reject him. I don't want you getting involved with him Ava." Liam sternly stated. Liam was also one who was quite protective over me.

"I'll just tell him it didn't work out between us and that's that."

"Malik doesn't take no for an answer. Once you're in the game there's no way out. Ever since you went on that date you became a player in his little game and he won't give up on you until you guys bang it'd ruin his reputation if some girl went around telling everyone she rejected him." April chimed in.

"If he doesn't take no for an answer then I want to get back at that asshole. Like beat him at his own game."

"And how exactly are you planning to do that?" April asked.

"Not sleep with him." I stated.

April snorted, "as if it were that easy. Don't you think other girls have said that? You're not any different babe."

"I bet you I can last the rest of the year without sleeping with him." I retorted back, not really knowing what I was getting myself into. All I knew was Zayn and April were both really pissing me off.

"Ava, love this isn't a good idea." Eleanor expressed with concern.

"I agree with Eleanor. I don't think you should be doing that. You don't know what Zayn's capable of in the first place. He is a drug dealer for fuck's sake."

"No, if she thinks she's so tough let her do this." April replied with a smirk plastered on her face.

"Yeah El and Liam stay out of this. I bet you I can go out with Zayn for the next 8 months without sleeping with him." I replied even more heated now.

"I'd like to see you try. I'll be surprised if you can even last a full month with him. Winner gets a year of free drinks, yeah?"

"Fine. Winner gets a year of free drinks." We both shook hands making the bet official, while Liam and Eleanor both sighed in defeat knowing whatever they said was just going to be disregarded. When it came to fights between April and I, they knew their best choice was just to stay out of it.

"Why do you both have to be so stubborn?" Liam groaned while Eleanor nodded in agreement. It was true though, I myself can admit I'm pretty stubborn.

"Because she thinks she's invincible and that she can do whatever she sets her mind to because the world is just that god damn easy." April replied in annoyance.

"Shut up April. All I want to do is teach him a lesson." I huffed as I stood up to get ready to go.

"You're leaving already?" El asked with a slight pout on her face.

"Yeah," I smiled, "to go out with Zayn." And with that I left the cafe, leaving behind three confused and worried friends, or so I thought.
