-It hurts to know you love someone but they don't love you back or worse they didn't even knew you existed. ~ Nene

Adam pov

"You offered her a job?" My dad asked stunned just as I ended the call with Emily.

He had come out of nowhere like an apparition almost scaring me while I was standing in the hall talking to Emily, who was explaining to me why she had snapped at me earlier and was apologizing for her behaviour.

"Yes, dad I did. Is that a problem?"

"Adam honestly yes, it is. The way you describe this girl, she seems very nice as I said before and I don't want someone who will distract you work in the same building as you or worse cause problem because you can't keep it in your pants and settle down.

You guys will probably start a relationship, that may or may not end in turmoil and knowing you it's the latter so yes I do have a problem with that."

"Dad relax, she and I haven't been going out or discussing anything about us being in a relationship I am going to remain professional."

"Just like how you remain professional with Amelia? Why haven't you fired that girl as yet?"

"How did you know that?"

"Walls have ears son."

"Dad that's completely different, this is a totally completely different case and I didn't fire her because she needed the job to support herself and her family," I argued.

"If you say so son but all I can say is be careful and what about Mrs. Wilson where will she work now that you have gotten a new personal assistant?"

"Mrs. Wilson is getting old and a little tardy but I will still keep her around the office."

"Okay, do what you feel is best," he spoke in a monotone before he walked away leaving me standing in the hall watching him disappear.

"I will," I shouted after him before I turned and walked into my study. Powering on my laptop that was on the Mahoney brown desk.

This is the place where I spend most of my time when I want to hide away from everyone around and when I feel a pang of loneliness.

Being rich everyone expects you to be happy because you have money and can buy anything in the world that you want but what they fail to realize is that, material things doesn't fill the void of loneliness, it doesn't nothing than to make you have something that you haven't had before.

I hide behind, dating supermodels, singers, actresses, anyone that is famous rather. I used them just for sex and then discard them like they weren't there, but now I feel like I'm slowly changing I don't know how but I know it's because of Emily Martinez.

I had felt bad after Heather and I had sex and I found myself the entire time thinking about her. I also didn't have sex with anyone since the last time I had sex with Heather and I always have someone in my bed.

Emily's not rich or classy but she has class and she is clearly independent woman. Her traits are the ones I should sought after.

She seems like the woman that can put me in my place when I cross the line, I definitely know she won't treat me like the bimbos who would just brush it off then have sex with me later to make me feel better.

I must say I was a bit surprised, hurt and a little turn on when Emily had snapped at me earlier, the way her hazel eyes flashed with anger when she shouted me was kind a sexy.

Going inside my email, I opened the file that James had sent me on Emily. Reading it I saw her dad had dies a couple years ago from having a heart attack, I saw that she had lived in Texas before moving to Washington DC then to New York after her dad died.

She was twenty-one years old and lived alone with her mom in a small two-bedroom apartment in an apartment complex at one Ambrose Lane.

Her mom has cancer which is now at stage two and that she works at one of the small local book store. All of which I already know the only information I didn't know is that her dad had died from a heart attack.

Knock! Knock! Came a loud bang on the door.

"Come in," I shout. In walked Amelia with a cup of coffee on a tray. "I just made this for you," she said while handing it to me.

"Thank you, you can leave it right there," I said while pointing to the far end of my desk. Resting it on the table she walked around to where I was and started to rub my shoulders.

"You seem tensed Adam, let me help you relieve some of that stress that you're feeling," she spoke seductively as her hand worked my shoulders.

"If you don't take your fucking hands of me, you're going to lose it faster than how you got them!" I said coolly.

"Oh Adam, I just want you to be happy and you know I can make you happy."

"Amelia take your hands off me now! We are not together you need to stop cross the fucking line, your my employee not my girlfriend or wife. Please get out!"

Taking her hands of me, she walked away. Opening the door, she came face to face with James who was surprised to see her in her, his surprise was then turn into anger. I never understood why he hate her so much.

"Get the fuck out!"

"Don't worry, I was leaving." Brushing past him she walked out and then he came in.

"What was she doing in here?"

"She brought me coffee and was trying her very hardest to seduce me," I chuckled.
"James, why do you hate her so much?"

"She is very sneaky Adam, there is something about that girl that I can't place a finger on."

"You're just being paranoid James."

"Maybe so but my gut tells me she's not to be trusted and you know my instincts are never wrong."

"I know James, I think she is harmless but keep an eye on her."

"Oh trust me I will."

"So why did you come in here?" I asked even though I knew his reason. He wanted to ask me about Emily no doubt.

James has always been there for me when it comes on to my relationship, he will always give me advice but being the man I am–relationship wise I brushed them off.

He has always been right about the women I pick, they were needy and clingy but I never listen. Now each time I break up with one of them I wished I had listened to him.

"I came to ask about that black-haired beauty that you had gone to visit today," he said teasingly.

"I mostly went to look for her mom, I had brought a bouquet of roses for her, you know so it could probably bring life to that dull white wall hospital room that she is and also to offer my support to Emily who had turned around and snapped at me because I was being caring," I said miserably.

Laughing at my pain he said, "it's the first I ever saw you care for a woman otherwise for your mom Adam and I must say I am proud and a little scared.

Proud that you have found someone and scared that you will hurt her with your Casanova ways."

"Emily seems different James which also make me feel scared. I don't want to hurt her she seems a bit fragile.

I don't want my 'Casanova' ways to hurt her, so I am treading slowly I want to make sure that this is what I really want–– to be settled down with someone and to leave my old ways behind."

As I was talking, I could see James looking at me with a shock expression on his face and his mouth wide open gaping me like a fish, his look so comical that I couldn't help but laugh.

James Denarius was a man who wore a serious expression on his face that could scare the devil himself looking at me with a shock expression.

I must say that this look suits him well. Recovering from his fright he said, "Adam am so proud of you and I'm sure your mom will as well."

Smiling at his words I looked at the picture of her that was on my desk, letting his words sink in. While they were in the room talking, Amelia was on the other side of the door soaking in every single word that was exchanged between the two men.
