-Love is like the wind, I can't see it but I can feel it- Jamie, A Walk to Remember
I honestly wanted to laugh at Emily's misery but I refrained myself from doing so. I had given her the entire day off to go home and rest and to think that she would have accepted it, a lot of persons would be happy that they would be able to go home and not have to work but no not Emily.
I must say I admire her determination and spirit and I am happy that I had hired her as my personal assistant. I needed someone like her who was willing to work and deliver, I just know that she will make my company more successful with those traits of hers, it kind a made me feel bad- no more likely cruel to let her clean that messy office downstairs.
That office was very cluttered and it contained, a desk, paintings thrown all over the room, and two sofas, one that was on top of the desk and the other that was lying on the floor and it needed a thorough sweeping.
The office was to be cleaned by the janitorial staff tomorrow because it had been too shabby for far too long.
I had no choice, she was determined to work to the point that she had annoyed me and made me frustrated that the veins in my head started throbbing at an irregular beat and I could feel a headache coming on that I had to send her downstairs to clean that dirty office. On the plus side the janitorial staff would be happy that they didn't have to do it.
Continuing my work, I could still feel my headache that had subsided a few hours ago coming back, getting up I walked downstairs to the cafeteria where I made a cup of coffee.
I was going to go up back to my office when I stopped and walked to the room where Emily was, "Emily?" I called out before entering. Turning the door handle, I walked inside and was astonished by what I saw.
The office looked immaculate, the floors were shinning and I could actually see the walls. The sofas were lines against the wall in the corner and the desk stood in the middle of the room, the wood glistening. I was in shocked that my mouth had hit the floor.
"Cat got your tongue?" she asked, with a smirk on her lips. Walking around the desk and sitting on a chair that I didn't knew had existed in the pile she threw her feet up on the desk.
I didn't know Emily had it in her, I thought she would've given up and go home and rest but no she really did clean the messy room making it sparkle and smelling fresh. "Mr. Jacob are you speechless, why aren't you saying anything?"
Clearing my throat and recovering from the shock I spoke in my authoritive voice, "Miss Martinez I see that you have accomplished your task and accomplish it well. I must commend you on a job well done."
"Well thank you sir," she replied sarcastically.
"Drop the sarcastic act Miss Martinez, you can leave and go home now." Nodding her head, she took down her feet and got up, she walked outside the door.
Simultaneously reaching for the door handle to close the door, our hands touched and I could feel the electricity coursing through my body, staring into her eyes I could see pain, hurt, betrayal and mistrust shining through them.
I could feel my feet moving and my body getting closer to her. Now standing mere inches from each other, looking down at her lips, I saw them twitch and I could help but think to do something that I wanted right now, in the heat of the moment that we are having.
Kiss them, taste them, savouring the sweetness that I knew they possessed. Leaning down, I was about to capture her lips into mine when she backed away, while doing so she moved her hand which bumped my hand and had spilled coffee all over my suit.
Looking down at the brown coffee stain and then up at her I wanted to be angry but I couldn't. This was my fault, I was the one crossing boundaries that I shouldn't have, well not here, at my company.
Mouths will be opened and gossips would fly, word will get around that Adam Jacob was having one of his affairs, which he is known for with his new personal assistant. They will not only tarnish my image but Emily, she will be caught in the turmoil and I can't afford for that to happen to her.
In spite of that my dad would be furious and I can't disappoint him, he is counting on me to make the company successful and I can't blow my chance with Emily, I like her, I am feeling things that I never have for a girl and although it scares me I was willing to take the risk, a chance with her so I had to ease my way in and charm her rather than just spring on her like a bloodsucking predator.
Looking back at her, I could see that she had her hand over her mouth and fear shining in her eyes. "Miss Martinez is everything okay?"
"I spoiled your suit," her voice coming out soft as she was afraid to talk to me.
Confused by her sudden behaviour I replied, "It's okay, there's no need to worry."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes I am sure. Why the change in attitude?" I asked, with eyebrows raised.
"I thought that you were going to fire me for spilling coffee on your shirt."
"Fire you, why would I fire you for something so simply."
"Well you fire the receptionist because you were upset that she had mistaken me for an interviewee rather than a worker which was a mistake and a misunderstanding and I spilled coffee on your expensive suit, that I couldn't buy."
Chuckling at her, I had to grip the wall so I wouldn't fall, "I am not going to fire you for something that was a mistake."
"So why did you fire that girl?"
"I fired her because she had messed up."
"I just messed up." Sighing, I knew what she was getting at and I see her logic.
"Okay fine, I will rehire her." Smiling deviously, she turned on her heel and walked away. Chuckling at the stunt she pulled, I shook my head and went back to my office.
Sitting down, I could hear shuffling in Emily's office while I slipped on my coffee, the shuffling had stopped and I could hear her door closing which meant that she was gone for the day.
This is exactly why I needed someone like Emily here, she had put me in my place and let me realize that I was wrong numerous times, I needed someone like her in my life for I knew that our relationship would be rock solid and that they would be no crumbling in the foundation.
Smiling at my thoughts, I looked to the door just in time to see the handle turning. There was only one who was giving the permission to open my door without knocking. Emily.
In she walked with a cloth in her hand and baking soda. No words were exchanged, she just came and stood right in front of me, bending down to my level she rubbed the baking soda onto my clothes she rubbed it in and applied the wet cloth she did this for a few moments until the stain had disappeared.
Staring up at her, I could help but feel admiration, yet again. Looking at her, I knew she was special and I needed her.
