Harry walked into the cold, unwelcoming, building he called home. He just finished a horrendous day of hearing teachers complain of students and students about teachers. All he wanted was some peace and quiet. Sadly in this household, that's a fantasy. Harry's mother, Anne, angrily stomped into the doorway of the kitchen, staring Harry down, arms firmly crossed over her chest.
"Where have you been?" She said, teeth clenched. The way Harry answered depended on him getting thrown out, screamed at or Hell, maybe even both.
Harry took a deep breath, attempting to calm his nerves, hoping his mother wouldn't smell his fear.
"I had to stay back in class for extra credit. I missed the bus, so I walked home." Harry said, his hands shaking, the slightest bit of cold sweat dripping down the back of his neck.
"No excuse. You should have walked faster to the bus, or ran. Now your father will be pissed when he gets home. Thanks to you." Anne said, visibly annoyed.
"Cool." Harry said. He was already mentally drained of school, he didn't have the energy to have a screaming match with his mother.
Harry headed down the hall to his room, closing the door behind him. As he was about to undress, there was a knock at his window. The only person he knew it could be was Liam. Harry opened the curtains and much to his knowledge, there was Liam, standing there waiting to be let in. Harry unlocked the window and pushed it up for his friend.
"Hey, Liam." Harry said, helping his friend navigate in through the window.
"I missed you at school. Did you skip again?" Liam asked, brushing off the dirt from his clothes.
"Yeah, but only for the last two periods." Harry admitted.
"Oh. Hey, you never texted me last night. You said you were going to finally put my number in your phone." Liam said as he walked over to Harry's chair.
"Speaking of that, I did, but I couldn't really make out the numbers. So, I guessed them and ended up texting some guy named Louis." Harry said. Louis' name just rolled right off his tongue, so immensely smooth, it made his heart beat faster the more he thought about the conversation from the previous night.
"He's really hot Liam. Bright blue eyes, much like the Caspian Sea, beautiful brown locks that lay across his forehead. . . Liam, you would have thought he was a God." Harry said, his heart full of a feeling he couldn't quite describe.
"Harry," Liam sighed, "no. Don't get attached to someone you don't know." he finished.
"I'm not. All I said was that he's pretty." Harry said defensively.
"I just don't want you to get hurt again." Liam said, shaking his head.
"I'm not helpless, Liam. Trust me, I'm far from wanting to be in a relationship with someone." Harry said with a slight attitude.
"Okay, I just want the best for you, Harry. You're my best friend." Liam removed his phone from his back pocket. "Now, let's put in the correct phone number in your phone." LIam smiled.
Harry and Liam relaxed on Harry's bed until 5:30p.m. Harry's step father would be home at any time. Liam grabbed his jacket, sliding it on, before opening Harry's window once again.
"Text me if you need a place to crash, okay?" Liam said while climbing out the window.
"I will. Now go, he's going to be home soon." Harry said, shooing Liam away from his window. He closed it as soon as Liam was far away from his house.
Harry laid back down onto his bed, knowing he couldn't go back out into the kitchen until his parents were passed out. Harry grabbed his phone, deciding to text Lous. What's the harm in making a new friend?
