I stood in front of the door that led to the Drama room, waiting for my teacher, Ms.Farmer.
'Okay, today is a whole new school year and we can all start up fresh and new with a clean slate. Let's forget about the vicious past and look forward to make the future brighter than ever. Especially after last year when things started to go downhill but now we're definitely back in business,' I thought to myself.
I looked down at my dress. It was definitely beautiful with black and white stripes throughout the bottom half. The upper portion was embedded with white lace and beautiful pearl like beads surrounding the collar. My mom had given me this dress since I turned 16. I had fallen in love with it ever since and I decided I would never let go of it, ever.
I stroked my long, shiny, black hair that fell past my broad shoulders to tidy it up a bit. I quickly glanced around the crowded hallway filled with babbling students and saw many new people and some of my old classmates from last year.
My eyes stopped on a girl with shoulder length blonde hair and piercing, blue eyes. She was wearing a cute creme colored sweater paired with blue denim jeans and fuzzy, brown boots.
It was my good friend Bella. I waved at her and she waved back adding on a warm smile. She motioned for me to come over. I walked towards her, greeting her with another smile.
"Hey!" I said. "How are you?"
She replies, "I'm good how are you?"
"Doing good. Did anything new happen over summer?" I asked.
I was just trying to engage in a conversation mainly due to the fact that I was bored from waiting around for the teacher to open up the door to her classroom.
"Well, my family and I went to South Dakota and I got to see my grandmother there which was pretty nice. She has gotten too frail to do most housework so we helped her tidy up the house and dust the musty corners. How 'bout you?"
"Yeah, I just stayed home and slept in. Nothing much."
I shifted my gaze towards the door to the classroom and saw my teacher, Ms.Farmer standing there.
'Finally,' I thought.
I was very impatient when it came to waiting for something.
Ms.Farmer was a very sweet and kind teacher with her dazzling, golden locks and stylish, hip sweaters. She was wearing her cute little black, framed glasses that covered up her deep emerald eyes.
I had her last year for Drama mainly due to the fact that she was the only Drama teacher in our school.
"Hello Sabrina! How are you?" Ms.Farmer says.
"Good, how are you?" I asked.
"Very nice, thank you for asking." She gave me a sweet smile. I smiled back at her and walked into the crowded classroom filled with babbling students.
The room was pretty large but it appeared to look small due to the endless rows of desks spread throughout the classroom. There were many dusty, cramped shelves containing many different books on the topic of Drama. One of the titles read, "Performing Arts". Another read "The Basics of Acting".
The books seemed to be frayed at the edges of the spine and most of the pages were bent at the corners.
Bella approached behind me with her muffled footsteps on the carpet flooring.
"Where do you want to sit?" I asked her.
"How 'bout there," she said as she pointed to two desks at the back of the compact classroom. We walked over to the two desks trying to avoid all the backpacks that were sprawled on the ground next to the rows of students it their desks. They were giggling and laughing at each other hysterically.
I took off my heavy, 20 pound, backpack and put it next to my desk as I sat down. Bella did the same as she plopped down right next to me.
Our school was very weird because it wasn't like a typical high school. In our school we didn't have lockers that we could store all of our school related stuff in. Instead we had to heave them around in our in backpacks thus making it feel like you are carrying a large bowling ball on your back. And when class starts, we have to put our backpacks next to our desk so we have all of supplies to be prepared.
Ms. Farmer walked from the door to the front of the classroom and faced all the students chattering students.
"Hello everyone, how are you? My name is Ms.Farmer if some of you didn't know but I know I had quite a few of you in Drama last year. Anyway, can I please have everyone be quiet so I can call roll?"
The students stopped talking and now were very silent.
"Bella King?" Ms. Farmer called out.
"Here!" Bella answered from beside me.
"Victoria Rose"
"Present!" Said a girl with cute, black, curls.
"Todd Rodgers?"
A very masculine voice answered from my other side,"Here."
I turned to face the voice.
Instantly, what I saw just put me in awe for a second. A handsome guy with messy, yet still perfect, brown hair was sitting there with his beautifully gleaming emerald eyes and his chiseled jawline that totally caught all of my attention. He was wearing a black leather jacket paired with ripped, blue denim jeans and black Converse sneakers. He turned his head towards me and smiled at me in a very sweet manner.
I realized I was staring at him awkwardly for a very long time and I must have looked very odd but there was something just very charming and pleasant about him especially his since his cheeks were perfectly flushed and rosy. I just thought he was very cute.
I smiled back at him trying to play it out smoothly.
"Hi," He said.
"Hi," I said looking down at the ground. I knew I was definitely blushing right now. I pushed a dark black lock of hair behind my ear and finally gathered enough courage to make eye contact with him.
"I'm Todd, although I'm sure you could guess easily."
I laughed. "Yeah, I'm Sabrina. Nice to meet you."
"Sabrina Williams?" Ms.Farmer asked.
"Here!" I called. I almost didn't hear her because I was too busy just dazzling over Todd's beautiful green eyes. I tried to look away but I couldn't. They seemed to just hold my eyes in place with some kind of unnatural force that I just did not know about.
After, what seemed like so long, he looked away and focused his eyes back on Mrs. Farmer.
I looked away from him too and tried to direct my attention to the teacher who was now lecturing about Shakespeare and how he was an amazing writer.
She was grinning from ear to ear and talking about how we will be performing "Romeo and Juliet" for the fall play.
I was trying to comprehend most of the things she was saying but I just couldn't.
All I could think about was Todd and only Todd.
He would be my "Romeo" and I would be his "Juliet".
