Don't Let This Happen

Chapter 8

Robin was desperate. He needed to find her. If he didn't, he would be near the point of insanity.

Starfire couldn't believe what she had just heard. Roy and Ali. Ali, the sweet, innocent girl, dying in a hopeless boy's arms. His blood stains hands and her tear stained shirt. Starfire felt like crying. She wanted to so badly, but she just blinked back the tears. Her belief about Roy Harper, the psycho-pathic, crazy person that kidnapped her, was nothing more than a lovesick, confused boy. Deep down, Starfire believed Roy wasn't cruel.

He just wanted one more chance at true love.

"I am the sorry. About Ali. I could tell that you loved her very much." she said shakily.

"I mean, there was nothing I could do to save her. When she fell back, she was dying. I had no choice but to watch. Every moment I saw her laying there, suffering, there was an excruciating pain inside of my heart."

Roy had begun to tear up. He was in pain again. All he did was back up against a wall and slid his back down it. He put his head in his knees, and sobbed quietly.

"What happened after she died? What happened to you?"

He lifted his head up and began to speak once again. "After she died, I felt like I had to get back at all if the people who had done me wrong. I became evil, and now, you are here."

"Roy I-" Roy cut her sentence short.

"I tried to keep her in my grasp, but the officers tried to pull her out of my hands. I pulled her back. I noticed her eyes were open, and I slowly put my hand up to her face and closed her sky blue eyes."

When he had said that, he realized something. Her eyes were the ones that lit up the sky. The made her smile more radiant than any other smile on earth. When the sky was stormy, she would make the sun shine. Now, she was gone. He didn't realize it, but he had said all of that out loud.

"Roy..."

How could someone so sweet, go through such a trauma like that. The love of his life died in his arms. If that ever happened to Starfire, the love of her life dying in her arms, she would die with him.

"I cannot even begin to imagine how hard that must have been." Starfire said.

"I am about to tell you the honest truth, I put a gun to my head and thought that if I pulled the trigger, I would be with her again. But there was something that pulled me away from pulling it. The chance that I could find someone like Ali, someone to love just as much."

"I hope you will find someone. I am sure you will. But I have one question. You know, if you do not mind me asking."

"What is it?"

"Do you know who killed Ali?"

He pondered on how to answer the question. He sucked in a deep breath and said, "I don't know for sure, but I have a feeling that it was my cousin. He has always hated me and if anything good happened to me, he would find some way to ruin it."

"Who is your cousin?"

"He is a villain. I don't know his real name because he would never tell me. He goes by the name of Red X."

"I think that I have heard of him."

She gasped. Starfire realized who Red X was. He was the one who had given her the nickname of 'cutie'.

Her eyes began to glow green. There was a dim green glow around her hands that told her that she was angry. She started breathing heavily. Red X had caused the Titans so much trouble. He had almost split them apart at one time, but the Titans' bond between each other could never be broken.

Robin was talking to Raven about plans on how to find Starfire. Raven had said an idea but they agreed that it would never work.

Beast Boy was lying in his room thinking about that night with Raven. He replayed his and her words in his mind, "I love you."

"I love you too."

How would the relationship ever work? Just then he heard a scream.

He ran to the room where Robin and Raven were talking. When he got there, he saw Raven on her knees clutching her head and Robin was beside her, with a concerned look on his face.

Beast Boy knelt down beside Raven and asked her what was wrong.

"I-I saw some-something..." she sputtered out.

"What did you see?!" Beast Boy asked.

"I saw S-Sl-Slade."

Then, Raven passed out.
