"Camila! Get down here! Sofi! You as well!" My father yells for me and my sister
I slowly walk down the stairs while Sofi is somewhat hiding behind me.
"Sofi! Come here, don't hide from Papi! I'm a good guy. I'll always be your Papi!" My dad somewhat yells to sound happy and joyful.
"I don't want to go to him Camila. He is not a good guy." Sofi whispers to me. My heart breaks hearing her so scared. I will always be right behind her.
"Go ahead. I don't want him to start getting angry. If he tries to do anything I'll be right here to protect you. I promise." I say to her as I see tears in her eyes as she nods.
Sofi slowly walks over to our father. I will be ready to take the hit just like always. I have to protect her. She is the only thing that matters to me now. Our mother left and she kept our father happy.
"Hey, sweetie! Why don't you come give me a hug?"
"No. I don't want to give you a hug" she says scared.
"DID YOU JUST SAY 'NO' TO ME!! I WORK TO GET FOOD FOR YOU, CLOTHING AND I GET THIS RESPECT!?" He yells lifting his hand to slap her.
I taught her something that I hope she does, and remembered.
"SOFI!" I yell and she falls to the ground to her knees and goes under his legs as I grab her and make a run for it. She did not get hit by him thank god. I grabbed my keys, my phone and some clothing for me and Sofi that I hide behind the trash can. I put clothes around the house just in case we have to lock ourselves away somewhere or sleep in my car, or get away. I keep special things in my bag like my laptop so I can do my work on school and my writing. I sell my songs to famous people and get paid to take care of my sister.
We run out the back door and through the gate to my car. We can hear him running and yelling for us to come back. We did not look back.
We got in the car and I gave Sofi my phone for her to text Dinah and tell her to meet us at the Coffee Shop to pick up sofi while I work on my getting money. I have to take care of her. I won't give up. If we have to get a house on our own I will.
I will not let him get to us.
