Chapter 3; Making Friends

Anna^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

"Are you Kate Snower?" I hear a girl ask. I turn to look at a tall thin girl around my age.
"Yes, who are you?"
"I'm your roommate, Anna." She exclaims.
"Oh, hi its nice to meet you."
"You to, so which room did you choose?"
"The one on the left" I explain.
"K" she walks into the other room and drops her stuff down onto the bed,as she walks back out I see how naturally beautifully she is.
"So you new?" I ask trying to start a conversation.
"Ya, I am. What about you?"
"Ya, you want to head to the cafe?"
"Sure I'm hungry anyway." We head to the cafe and I grab a ceaser salad, spaghetti and meatballs, a sprite and a brownie. Anna has a salad, cola, and a brownie. We sit at one of the middle tables and eat.
"So, were did you come from." I ask not sure how to start a conversation.
"I came from South Carolina. I went to a stable called Oak Wood Stables, and my horse, Baby Blue Fire, or just Baby, came with me. What about you?."
"I came from Wyoming, and for Christmas I got a new horse, To Fast For You, or just Silver and brought her here with me." I exclaim. I love Silver so much if anything happened to her, I don't know what I would do.
I mean I know I just met Silver, but she already trusts me....
"Hello, earth to Kate." Anna waves her hand in front of my face. I shake out of my daze and apologize. Anna and I decide to ride in the arena to see what Silver can do. I walk to the stables with Anna and head to Silvers stall. I grab her halter and put it on and lead her out to the crossties. Luckily she stood there for me cause I dropped the lead line. Once I get done brushing her, there is not one spot of dirt on her. Then I grab my new dover English jumping saddle and new blue and green saddle pad. I put the saddle pad on her and then the saddle. I make sure everything is in its place and then cinch up the girth.
"Good girl, Silver." I coo. I go to get Silvers bridle and put it on her. Then I check the girth and head to the arena. Anna's right behind on her horse Baby.
"Ok Silver, let's see what you can do."
I take Silver around the outside of the ring at a walk, trot, and then canter.
"Hey, Anna you want to do some jumps?"
"Ya I'll set them up if you want."
"K" I walk Silver out a few laps and let her relax a little. Eventually five verticals are set up and Anna takes a shot at them. Her equitation was flawless, and her horse is with her.
"Howed I do?"
"You were great. Like amazing."
"Thanks your turn."
Ok let's do this. I steer Silver away from Anna and canter her in a circle and then head towards the first jump, blue and yellow. I ask Silver for a little more speed and go into a 2 point position. I keep my heels down, head up, hands close together almost touching the saddle, and we fly over the jump. Next we head to a red and green vertical which is set a little higher. I keep in mind of what needs to be done and we sail over it with ease. Eventually we walk back to Anna.
"So, how was that."
"Uh...uh.."
"What?!"
"That is way better than anyone I have ever seen." Her mouth hangs open.
"Well well, look who it is, the girl with the stupid horse." I turn to look at the blonde from earlier.
"Well well its the snobby rich little brat." I spat.
"I'm warning you, right now new girl, don't push my button." I roll my eyes and Anna and I walk out to our assigned stalls and untack.
"You were such a good girl." I give her a sugar cube. After I untack her I go back to our dorms and change into a white shirt and shorts with some flats. Anna arrives eventually and changes also. I grab my laptop and look at my emails and see a new one from our new coach.

We will have our lessons everyday at 4:30 sharp. I will expect respect, efficiency and you will dress nicely.

I close my laptop and walk to Anna's room. Knock knock. She comes and opens it.
"Hey did you get that email?"
"Ya, he sounds tough."
"Ya well I'm going to go to bed night"
"Night."
I close her door and go to sleep. I lay in bed and close my eyes. Well I made one new friend and a new rival. Job well done Kate.
