Chapter 4; First Day

My alarm clock wakes me up at 5:30. Still half asleep I walk into the bathroom and take a shower. About 10 min later I am out and getting dressed in jeans and a black aeropostel shirt. After I apply some eye-shadow,eyeliner, and mascara. Along with lip gloss. After that I grab my white camo backpack and head to the stables. By the time I get to Silvers stall it is 6:00. I have about two hours till school starts. I decide to ride Silver through some jumps and ground work to get her more used to the arena for our practice. I groom, tack and lead Silver to and indoor arena cause its still dark out. After warming up I set up two crossrails at 3'6" and and oxer at 4'4". I take Silver into a circle and head straight to the first crossrail. I keep in mind to have heels down, looking forward, hands just above and just in front of the saddle. At about two strides away I rise into my 2 point position. Silver jumps it perfectly. Next we head to the second crossrail. I do my checklist of equitation in my head and count down strides and again at 2 strides left I rise into my two point position and we jump a clear crossrail. I pat Silver lightly saying that she's a good girl. One more jump to go. I go into two point at the right time and we fly over it. Once I cool Silver down I take her back to her stall and untack her. Then I brush her out and give her a peppermint treat.
"You were such a good girl,Silvy."
I kiss her nose and put her in her stall.
After riding I feel great, like all the nerves went away. I walk back to the dorms, but I find a little shop close by. I look at my phone and see that it is 7:00. Anna should be waking up by now. I by both of us a mint hot chocolate and two chocolate chip muffins. After paying with my student card I leave the little shop and head back to my dorm. By the time I get back Anna is out of the shower and doing her makeup.
"Hey, I brought us breakfast", I explain. She turns and looks at me beaming.
" Thank you, you know I don't know what I would do without you, girly." I smile at the comment. After setting down my bag I check for my schedule.
8:05-9:00. U.S History
9:05-10:00. Math
10:05-11:00. Sciences
11:05-12:00. Advanced ELA
12:00-1:00. Lunch
1:05-2:45. Equine Sciences
2:45-3:00. Study Hall

I go over it all about five times and eventually memorize it.
"Hey, Kate, are you ready?"
"Ya" I yell back. I put my schedule in my pocket. And grab my backpack. Anna and I walk to our first classes. Anna has advanced English. Yay first class I'm alone. Anna splits from me saying goodbye and walks over to her class. I have US history on the other side of campus. After walking a few more minutes. I finally reached my class and i am a couple minutes early.
After waiting for a minute I walk in to find a couple of people already in there. I find my name and sit-down. Next to me is a boy with brown hair and icy blue eyes. Our teacher Mr. Marald, starts the lesson and I immediately tune in.
After, what feels like forever the class comes go an end and the bell rings. I grab my backpack and head to my next class. Luckily Anna's in that class. I run\walk to my Math class, and get there in time. I spot Anna already in her seat ready for class to start. I walk over to a seat beside her and sit down, she looks at me and smiles.
"Hey, how was History?"
"Uggh don't remind me, I have two papers to finish and and essay about my history. What about you?"
"English was horrible enough, I got a packet of stories to complete."
She says with a sigh.
"Alright class. I am your Math teacher Mrs.Baket. we will start the lesson off by going over some math worksheets together on inputs and outputs. Does anybody know the equation used for this?"
I raise my hand.
"Ms.Snower do you know the answer?"
"Yes" I reply,"Y=mx+b" I quickly studder.
"Correct also when you put one input in......"
The class drags on slowly . Ding. The bell rings signaling to go to your next class. As my classes go on it is finally study-hall and I am completing my history,Math, and science, homework. Once I finish it all of it study hall comes to and end and I pack up. The bell rings and I leave the campus and head towards my dorm room. Once I get there I put my bag on my bed and change into a teal polo shirt, and light brown colored jodhpurs. I grab a granola bar from our mini kitchen and head out the door making my way quickly to Silvers stall. I grab her halter and open her stall door.
"Hey girl, how ya doing?"
She nickers as I put her halter on. I grab the lead rope and lead her into crossties. I grab her brushes and groom her until she's shining. Next I grab my all-purpose English dover saddle and my blue and white colored saddlepad. I put on the pad and next the saddle. Next I tighten the girth and buckle it. I grab Silvers bridle and put it on her. She takes the bit and we are ready to go. We both walk to the indoor ring. There's only two other people in there. I check Silvers girth once more and get on her on her near side.( left side). Once I warm her up i line up with the others and wait for coach Ray to arrive. Right when the minute hand hits 4:00.
"Hello everyone, it seems like you all have received my email. Is everyone warmed up?"
"Yes" we all announced.
"Okay good. We will start our lesson with a few announcements then we will ride with no stirrups. I will test you on your skills for three days. Day one is jumping. Day two is cross country. And day three is dressage.
And you will have three days to practice. Alright let's get started, everyone pull hour stirrups up and start in a circle on the outside at a walk." I get down off of Silver and pull up my stirrups. After I do that I get back on and walk Silver with no stirrups, easy.
"Trot now." Coach Ray announces. I push a little on Silvers sides into a smooth trot. I barely bounce but it does not show, I sit up straight, shoulders back, heels down, and I look forward.
"Excellent, Kate!" Coach Ray says. I smile at his comment and nod still keeping my equitation intact.
"Canter" He yells. I push a little while pushing back my outside leg pressing to get Silver to canter the right lead. She does and I give her a pat.
"Nice Grace!" Grace is on a bay thourobred with 3 white socks.
"Alright our lesson has come to an end and I will see you tomorrow." I smile and lead Silver toward the gate I open it with ease and walk out still on Silvers back. Once we reach the barn I get off of her and lead her into crossties. I untack Silver and brush her down. Since she isn't very sweaty I don't bath her. Once I put her back into her stall I give her a sugar cube.
"You were such a good girl today. You deserve a rest. Goodnight girly."
I kiss her on her muzzle and head back to our dorms. I lay on my bed and take a short nap.
I wake go feel someone shaking my shoulder.
"Kate wake up" I open my eyes to see Anna standing there.
"Oh hey whats up?"
"Oh I'm just waking you up to do some homework.
"Oh okay." I let out a low sigh and get out the rest of my homework. Since I did most of it already in study hall it takes me 30 minutes total to finish all of my homework. I walk out of my room and into Annas to see that she is hovered over her desk.
"Hey I finished mine, I'll be right back"
"K" she says not looking up. I grab my student card and head towards the door, but before I walk out I notice I'm still in my practice clothes. I change quickly into a green aeropostel shirt and blue jeans. Now I'm ready, I think to myself. I walk out of the room and down the main hallway and out the door. I walk to the little shop by my dorm, which I learned that it is called 'Baby Blue Snack Shop' I guess because it has baby blue walls. I open the door and hear a chime. I walk up to the counter and see a small blonde girl.
"Hello,may I take your order?"
"Yes, I will have 2 salted caramel lattes extra whipped cream, and a box mixed baby muffins and baby brownies please."
"Is that all for today?"
"Yes."
"Okay I will be right back out with your order." I give her a nod and look around. This place is actually pretty nice, with blue walls with paintings hung up, been bag cushions, tables with white soft chairs and flowers scattered around the shop.
"Okay here you go, have a nice day I pick up my order and hear a chime. I turned to see who has come in, and in my luck its Brittany( by the way its the blonde who's mean to her)
"Oh no the shops infected, watch out guys, she's gonna get her little horsey and run us over. Oh no!"
"Alright,Brittany, let's just say if I'm infected then if I touch you , you will be infected as well, so," I quick touch her and she flips.
"Ha-ha very funny, you better watch your back Kate cause you have made me very angry with you!"I burst out laughing at this. Her face her face was hilarious.
" Whatever, I say and walk out the door and head to my dorm. Opening the door I set down the food and drinks and grab a mini plate from the kitchen. I fill it with mini muffins and brownies. Next I grab one of the latès and walk to Annas room. I open the door and see Anna still at her desk tackling her homework.
"Hey I brought us something."
I hand her the plate and drink.
"Awe thanxs I really need something to eat. I'm almost done."
"Okay im going to go take a nap."
"Kay"
I drink my drink and eat a couple of mini muffins and go to sleep.
