"Most conversations are simply monologues delivered in the presence of a witness." – Margaret MillarChapter Three: The Talk Part 2
While being in Storybrooke, which is a very small town and for that reason everyone knows each other. It is very uncommon and brings suspicious among the civilians who reside there to see a newcomer. Take for instance, Neal Cassidy who is referred as in the present, but once long ago in past during Enchanted Forest he was known as Baelfire. But, now the people in the small town in Storybrooke call him "the mysterious guy" because it is unknown of his true identity now or in the past. Everyone has yes? Recovered their memories of the events but they have not been able to figure out who the mysterious guy is for odd reason know Emma Swan the daughter of the Charmings. The town is very silent with not so much noise.
Now, that Storybrooke is during midsummer along with the cool warm breeze and big waves of the ocean from the beach that comes crashing across the light tan color sand.
Emma was just staring at the guy in front of her with a surprised, shocked expression that kept her frozen unable to move. Her deep blue eyes connected with Neal's dark brown ones that looked as wide like a huge white shiny diamond. She felt like just looking at each other brings so many memories all at once. The good, bad and more. It feels like those memories are somewhat coming to resurface again. Emma thought to herself "I am scared, I'm scared". She thought herself lost in her own mind for a moment, "I know him and I need to discuss things and even if that means going back to the past that was for her, a living hell and very bad past indeed."
"Neal, we need to talk it's very important we do so." I said to Neal with a bit of a concerned voice while he gave a sweet smile.
"Okay Em. Is everything okay?" He replied with a worried look, and he held her hands which surprised her. Emma looked down at the joined hands and then her ocean blue eyes gazed at him with a blank expression.
"I am not sure really. I don't know how you will take this." Emma said with a shaky voice that was uncertain what will Neal's reaction be after he hears what she is going to tell him. She looked down for a moment lost in thought in what were the choice of words to say.
"Hey, Emma Emma look at me please." Neal stretched his hand under Emma chin and lifted it so she can look at him. Emma hesitated with her deep ocean blue eyes and met Neal's dark brown ones that looked like a rich dark chocolate candy people get at See's Candy. She felt nervous at the quick gesture by Neal when suddenly his hand touched the side of face, she thought he would cup her cheek with is palm but instead he tucked her straight medium long dirty blonde hair under her ear.
"Em, you can tell me anything. You can share your thoughts, fears, doubts, happy or sad moments, anything. I will always be here for you. I'll be here to support you and everything. That is because I unconditionally absolutely love and there will be not one day I haven't stopped loving you, also won't ever stop fighting for you." I saw her stare at me with her crystal midnight blue eyes of hers all dumfounded. I thought for a moment, did I say something out of place or did I somehow took a step to her heart again, as cliché as it might sound.
After a few minutes, Emma thought to herself looked down at Neal, the person who torn her heart into shattered pieces, the guy who is the father of her child, the guy who she fell head over heels for, the person she didn't want to ever imagined of seeing again, but yet again he is here in front of him face to face.
She looked around the street to all the people who were walking alone or with someone, kids laughing too, individuals running to maybe catch a cab, bus or otherwise from where Neal and she standing in the center behind a vintage store that was called, "Beau Chateau".
"Maybe before I would've believed your words in a heartbeat. Tell me how can I possibly believe what you say, all those words can be true? Due to the other part of what I really need to say is very important, though I am uncertain how you will take it if you'll be mad or happy?" At this moment I felt guilty, confused, happy, and sad. So many emotions that are crossing in my mind. I lifted my hand up to hold a few strands of my dirty blonde hair of mine. I should be estastic with happiness that he still has those feelings for me, that he revealed to me his unconditional love like so many years ago, eleven years to be exact. It's now or never. I have to tell him the truth no matter how painful it may be, I would've kept the truth a secret. But just seeing him again and when I saw my son Henry with a curious expression I knew that I had to lift the secret up from the shadows. I went back to the past and it reminded me of the great time Neal and I have spent together, all of the happy moments until he left me sitting in a jail cell pregnant with a shattered heart.
Then, just ahead just while we crossed the street, I thought "What if we go someplace less crowded to talk this out? To reveal Neal the truth about Henry. Maybe, the beach, the one next to boat house. Yes, that would be a good place and we can just walk around or sit down to discuss this as adults." She thought to herself with a shaky voice. Like, Neal would have thought "Talk it out in a civilized manner." She began to shake that thought out of her mind for now. I hear just at that moment that Neal was calling my name, "Emma, Emma, Em." That started with a calm voice then it got loud from his rough voice so I thought. But, then Neal which I knew him by, and not like everyone referring him by the name Baelfire or Bae; he lightly took of hold of my shoulders and shook me to grab my attention again. I came out of trance that I was thinking for a moment, that I seemed lost. "Uh? Wh-what did you say again? She asked the guy standing in front of her with an expression that she cannot describe, which to her was unreadable.
She'd asked silently to herself, why is he looking at her with that unknown look in his eyes, that gleam of interest in what her thoughts were in that moment; when she dazed out of their conversation.
Neal looked at Emma at the instant saying to her, "Did you even say what I was saying?" he waiting for his reply back.
At that moment, I said to him "No, I'm sorry I didn't hear you." Neal let out a sigh short but, yet a sigh. "Emma, I was just saying that you can tell me anything, anything at all. I hope you know I will always hear you out." He said standing close to me with a look of concern written across his face. I didn't know how to respond. I felt like I couldn't breathe also think properly. I needed to get this feeling I had inside me out and say it soon. I knew it was hard to fight with my conscious doing what was right and wrong. It's not for me, then for Henry.
"Let's talk at the beach, we almost there." Saying as I took his hand in mine walking across the street, when we got to other side I suddenly felt a familiar feeling that I had forgotten. It was... Neal giving me a sweet tender kiss on my forehead.
