Bokuto's family has a tradition of making sugar cookies every year for Christmas. The day is always filled with laughs and Christmas music. This year was different than all the rest though. This year Bokuto would be bringing his boyfriend over to meet his family for the first time.
Bokuto's family had heard quite a lot about the second year setter Bokuto had fallen for, and quite frankly they were surprised that such a level headed boy had started dating their wild son. They weren't complaining though. Ever since Bokuto had met Akaashi, the family has seen an even brighter light inside their son's eyes. They were very excited to meet the special person in their son's life.
Akaashi on the other hand was terrified. He had grown up knowing that first impressions were everything. He really did like Bokuto and he didn't want to mess up their relationship by not getting along with his parents. So today had to be perfect. He had to be perfect.
Akaashi arrived to the house when Bokuto's mother had finished the dough. Bokuto had opened the door to find his boyfriend with a huge fruit basket in his arms.
"Good morning Bokuto," Akaashi said with a small smile.
"Morning Akaashi. Would you like some help?" Bokuto asked."If you would," Akaashi said while putting the basket into Bokuto's arms.
Bokuto took the basket into the kitchen where his little sister was rolling out the dough.
"The babe brought bananas!" Bokuto laughed.
"B-Bokuto!" Akaashi said blushing.
The rest of the family laughed as they greeted Akaashi. Akaashi politely smiled and shook the parents' hands and waved to Bokuto's sister. They all talked about volleyball and school for a little bit. Bokuto got bored after awhile and started to help his sister roll out dough. The two were rolling when Bokuto got an idea.
Akaashi was just telling Bokuto's parents about his violin lessons when he suddenly felt something upon the top of his head. Bokuto's parents started snickering and the little sister had started laughing when Akaashi turned around and saw Bokuto with a proud grin and white, floury hands.
"Bokuto!" Akaashi exclaimed. He felt the top of his head which was covered in flour.
"You have a little something in your hair," Bokuto laughed.
Akaashi scoffed and felt around his hair. While Bokuto laughed Akaashi threw some of the flour in his hair into Bokuto's face. The room fell silent, but inside Akaashi's head everything was on high alert. Until.
"OHHHHHHHH," came from the whole Bokuto family. It was followed by an abundance of laughter and the alert in Akaashi's mind went off. Akaashi joined in light laughter after wiping off the flour on his boyfriends face.
The next few minutes was full of light conversation and the cutting of the cookies. The shapes were all cute Christmas figures. Bokuto's favorite was obviously the little owl with a santa hat. Akaashi would never say it but that was also his favorite shape.
The next part was to decorate with sugar sprinkles. They had the choice of green, red, or regular sugar for white. Bokuto and his sister licked sugar off their fingers for a couple seconds until Akaashi lightly scolded Bokuto. Boktuo shrugged and whispered, "Eh, it's not as sweet as you anyway." That earned a blush and an slight jab to the side from Akaashi.
Akaashi's cookies were what Bokuto's parents called "masterpieces". He put suga down on the cookie like he was coloring them. The berries on the mistletoe were red while the leaves were green. The reindeer was white and his nose was white. The children, yes, Bokuto was considered a child, had less than specific cookies. They were loaded with sugar and were sure to be delicious.
When they were done with the decorating, Bokuto's mom put them in the oven where they would cook for a bit. They all played a card game in which Akaashi dominated in. When the cookies were done they all ate some. They didn't eat Akaashi's cookies though, they were too pretty. Soon it was time for Akaashi to leave.
As Akaashi said his farewells to the family, Bokuto impatiently waited. When Bokuto finally got his time to say goodbye to Akaashi Bokuto's sister came up behind them and tried, but failed, to put a mistletoe on top of their heads. The two blushed and smiled at the little girl and looked at each other.
Bokuto put his hands upon both sides of Akaashi's face and kissed him. They couldn't hear them but the family gave them wolf calls. As they pulled away Bokuto smiled. "They love you," Bokuto quickly kissed him again, "But I love you more."
Akaashi walked home in the cold, but he was warm for the entire way home.
