Namjoon's eyes widened in shock.
"Y-You mean... He bullies you at home too?!" Seokjin nodded, "Yes. The only time I get away from it all is on my way home from school." His voice was no louder than a whisper. Seokjin looked away from him as he rushed to class, his pants rubbing against his cuts that were still fresh. Namjoon followed him to his next class as insults were continually shouted at from Hoseok and Yoongi. When they reached their class, Seokjin ran in and sat at his usual desk - right at the back next to the window. He gets out his notebook and pen while waiting for the teacher who is Mr. Jeon today - his favourite.
"Class! May I have your attention please?" Mr. Jeon walks in, clapping twice to get the classes attention.
"Today, I want you to design a drawing or painting that reflects your personality." Seokjin stiffens, not knowing how to react with the assignment they have been given. Namjoon cheers beside him, eager to get started.
"Was that a cheer I just heard?" Mr. Jeon teasingly scolds and looks over to Namjoon.
"Oh? A new student? What's your name mister?"
"Kim Namjoon." Namjoon stands up and bows before sitting down again. As the class started, Seokjin worried about how he would portray his personality into the art. Mr. Jeon sensed his worry and came over to him.
"Having trouble?" Seokjin nodded.
"Try listening to your music while you think. That's part of who you are." Seokjin's eyes widened at the idea and he looked up to his teacher.
"Thank you." That was the first time Mr. Jeon had heard of Seokjin's voice. Although it was in a whisper and his voice cracked from the lack of use, Mr. Jeon smiled in delight. Namjoon watched the close friendship between teacher and student. He longed to have the same closeness but it wasn't always easy.Kim Namjoon didn't have the best start to life. He lost both of his parents and younger sister at a young age of four. His family was involved in a horrible tragic car crash with him being the lone survivor. Today, he still wonders how he survived despite his horrific injuries. Namjoon was declared dead at the scene but thanks to the quick thinking of the paramedics, he still lives today. He fractured his spine in two places, broke his ankle and has a slight limp from these two injuries. He also suffered bleeding on the brain and momentary memory and vision loss. He still forgets but not completely as its only a small memory loss and it affects him greatly.
Forty minutes later, the bell rang, signalling the end of class and the start of break. Namjoon looked at his blank page in front of him. He sighs as he packed up his things and tapped Seokjin on the shoulder. He looks up and pulls out his earphones and copying Namjoon's actions.
"Remember class, this is due next week!" Mr. Jeon reminded everyone as they left the classroom.* * *
Once all of Seokjin's books were in his locker, he grabbed his food from the cafeteria and walked to his usual spot - the rooftop. He sat down with his back against the warm concrete wall. The breeze was soft and warm as it gently caressed his soft brown hair. He closed his eyes in contentment as he plays his music, loud enough that he can still hear the bell.
"Seokjin! I'd knew I'd find you here!" His silence was broken by Mr. Jeon's cheerful voice. He looked up before adverting his gaze from Mr. Jeon. Seokjin's food sat next to him untouched.
"Not hungry?" Mr. Jeon asked him and Seokjin nodded. He never eats at school - usually for several days at a time and only surviving on one thing a day or none at all.The two sat in companionable silence until the bell rang.
"I better go. I have the first years..." Seokjin chuckled. The first years are always the troublemakers when they first start high school but they start to grow up when they start their second year at Seoul Senior High School (SSHS). Mr. Jeon got up and took Seokjin's tray back to the cafeteria. Seokjin sighed and got up a few minutes later.
