America
I came home loving the feel of my tired limbs and hating the feel of the little stabs my heart is doing.
But I knew no matter how many times I have to remind myself that I wanted this, when Aspen decided to make me a rebound I was only too happy to jump into the opportunity I thought of all the day dreams now turning into my worst nightmare it still hurt, but I guess you can never force someone to love you. Especially your best friend because it's hurts to lose him in the process. How stupid could my heart be.
I know it's not wrong to love, maybe one day I will be able to get over the fact that I'm just a girl who fell pathetically hard in love with her best friend and he could just never love me back.
I stopped the repeat going on in my head when I saw mom in the kitchen her head bent, shoulders shaking.
"Mom?" I know mom won't cry in front of dad we all just don't do that.
Her eyes were so full of tears that I took her in my arms as she wept silently. My heart broke even more.
When she finished she spoke "The bills, America. I don't know how I can keep track with paying his medical bills, my work granted me to take a hiatus but the pay won't get us through."
Think America. You can work, accept weekend gigs to sing, it could pay you good money. Ding!
"I could help out mom, I could find a after school job or even one in school I don't know if they'll be accepting seniors but it's worth the try. I'll accept weekend singing shifts as well. We'll make it. Just trust me."
"I don't know what I would do without you, Ames. May is still in high school I don't want to pressure her or you but I have to admit it to you now I can't do this by myself." My mom looked defeated
"You have me mom. Don't worry. Now, have some water and let's go to bed."
We both gulped our waters put them in the sink headed to our rooms and while I was wishing my mom was asleep I pulled my blanket tight and cried my heart out.
The next day after doing some search I found myself a gig at the palace, the Prince was hosting a party for a special announcement. The band's singer caught a bad bug and it just so happened that I passed audition.
The only thing is it was going to happen tonight.
They provided me a gown which fit me. Thank goodness for that. Fortunately the band had a personal make up artist Nancy.
After she was done with her magic I took a look at myself in the mirror.
She tied my red curls in an artful loose hairdo. My make up was really simple just some emphasis on my eyes.
The blue gown blew me away it was strapless and hugged my torso like a glove with a slit to show off my right leg.
"You look gorgeous, hun" Nancy commented.
"The artist admiring her work, I'm flattered." I smiled at her.
"The band already left to set up, you should join them." She said stowing away her make up.
"Thanks again, Nan." I opened the door and headed towards the party.
On my way to the stage I saw Aspen and I didn't know what to do. My eyes zeroed on his hand resting on Norley's back. They were laughing and once Aspen saw me he stiffened and to my mortification Norley turned to me too.
I know if I don't pass and say something I'm going to look like a fool.
"Hello." Was all I said.
"Hello Ames, what are you doing here?" Aspen asked looking uncomfortable.
"I'm here to sing." my voice sounded so little I didn't want to look at them, it hurt.
"Oh, I didn't know you were back to singing." Aspen said quietly.
I just nodded because I didn't know what to say to that. "er.. excuse me." I didn't have to look at them to walk away.
"Hi Ames, little drama you encountered over there." Harv was looking at me with his eyeliner rimmed eyes.
"Yeah, didn't I look pathetic?" I said awkwardly
"No, the scene looked pathetic, the guy looked like a guilty douche bag and you looked like a vulnerable angel."
"For a guy your quite observant, hm?"
He just winked back and went back to adjusting his guitar.
"We're on in 3 minutes." Meanor the manager said.
"You should join the band for good Ames." she continued.
"I... don't want to overstep the lead singer." I said
"She's a drunk, we were thinking of kicking her out anyways."
"I'll think about it." I said
We had light conversations about the gigs that they did.
"places everyone. America, have fun."
I nodded feeling like a ball of nerves. Aspen was out there.
"Maybe the prince will see you and have a word with him later yeah?"
I didn't have time to rattle since the lights already lit up the stage and the music cued in.
It's showtime!
Maxon
I was tense. I know it was wishful thinking but I couldn't find the red haired goddess anywhere. I turned around at the sound of a beautiful voice. ( play multimedia)
I see her, her red hair piled on top of her head and I wanted to untangle them and feel the soft texture. Her eyes blew me away they were the blues I would like to get lost in. The sound of her voice calmed me. Her eyes drifted to me and for a moment I let her sing me to a calm state.
"Beautiful voice for a beautiful lady, hmm?" Mother was beside me.
"Hello mother, I agree."
"Oh Maxon! I'm your mother I know when you're infatuated with someone. Maybe you should ask her to dance?"
"That's silly mother she's the one providing music."
"You better act on soon before..." mother wasn't able to continue because red hair and blue eyes finished singing and she was speaking.
"Thank you. Now, for his important announcement let's all welcome Prince Maxon on stage."
"Too late darling, better get up there." my mom nudged me before the light found me and I followed my feet to the stage.
Taking the microphone from her our fingers touched a second and I felt the current going through my body. Damn it what do I do know?
a/n: hey guys.. tell me should Maxon really continue on a selection?
