A New Chapter

"Ugh I don't really have time for this right now Matthew," Kierstin said frantically. She had just finished her essay for her creative writing class earlier that night, and was starting a new short story for her own enjoyment. This one dealt with more liberal pro rights undertones, while her English essay was neutral, granted her teacher was a republican and she desperately wanted an A. She looked at Matthew with a scowl.

"I don't know where it is," Matthew said, hypnotized by the screen of their apartment shared TV, "Maybe you should just relax and take a break for a while, I finished my paper like hours ago. I don't know why you're writing another one when the greatest thing on television is on."

"Matthew you don't even like football." Kierstin said skimming through her backpack one more time.

"It's half time and Beyoncé's performing, can't miss that. Tyrell's on his way with the sandwiches from subway™, you can ask him if he's seen it when he gets here."

Kierstin threw another book in the air hoping to find it underneath. "I CAN'T WAIT THAT LONG I NEED IT--"

The door unlocked and Kierstin's red face returned back to its normal state. Partly because she was hungry and was relieved that there was food, but also because she saw that he had what she was looking for in his hands.

"Yeah can you believe it, one second it was there and I turned around and it was gone, completely gone," Tyrell laughed on the phone as he walked into the apartment, "yeah okay bye. Talk to you later."

"THANK YOU, BUT ALSO WHERE DID YOU FIND THIS BECAUSE I'VE BEEN LOOKING EVERY WHERE FOR IT, AND HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE A GUY TO ORDER THREE SUBS???" Kierstin screamed as she took the laptop she was looking for and sandwiches from his hands.

"Oh, yeah funny story. I saw this guy with it while I was leaving my class and I was like, 'oh no that's Kierstin's I must stop this criminal' so I tackled him and we fell all the way down a hill tumbling and rolling. There was blood so much blood. Then all of a sudden... Kierstin realized I made this story up and just noticed she left it on the bench"

"Thanks hoe" Kierstin said while shoving the sandwich in her mouth.

"Who was that you were talking to on the phone?" Matthew asked, only getting up because there was food, "she sounded really pretty. Is Tyrell finally getting some?"

"Yeah you sounded pretty happy for a guy that got dumped like what, two, three fucking weeks ago? You seemed to have recovered faster than normal. Normally you would have turned on some Adele and watched Forrest Gump twenty times by now. Tyrell are you feeling okay?"

"Ha ha ha," Tyrell replied sarcastically "that person, nitwit, was a friend I made in my animations course. And it's totally platonic, she's got a boyfriend. And yes I'm fine I'm just trying to think of things other than my love life. I'm in college now and my career is my number one priority."

"Well that's good..." Matthew pause. "So, how ugly is she? Because around the time of one of your 'I'm done with love' tantrums, you always get really flirty and fall in love with anything with legs."

"That is so not true!" Tyrell said.

"We walked into an IKEA and you asked a chair for their phone number."

"It was dark and I couldn't see okay... And it's leather cushion was A1"

       "I rest my case"

"I don't know I like the idea of Tyrell starting a new chapter, I swear if I hear 'life is like a box of chocolates' one more time I will choke someone." Kierstin said, finishing her sandwich.

"Well what are we doing tomorrow, it's a Saturday and I have no plans" said Matthew eating the extra sandwich Tyrell got specifically for him.

"you never have plans, Matthew." Tyrell said jokingly

"I was thinking we could go to the new pizza place down the street, 'Ranaldo's' or something like that. I over heard this cute guy in my writing class say it was really good. And I wouldn't mind bumping into him there."

"Sounds like a plan" Matthew said, petting their pet cat, scoot, and gawking at Beyoncé's legs.
